Boxing is infested with this marination game. It's supposed to be an investment in time, meaning certain fights are likened to museum artifacts which value rises with age. But these are humans who are subject to all kinds of issues that come along the way like being sued doing nasty things outside of the ring, injuries, personal problems, you name it. Not to mention getting exposed by a Rod Salka, etc.

You're looking at five years minimum is what Bozy is saying here.

They need to look at Juanma-Gamboa as an example of what happens when marination goes wrong.

We need a world boxing super series at 147lbs.
That would have brought some fans to the sport and gone down in legend. The old versus the new, Spence, Crawford, Thurman, Ugas; Ortiz, Boots, Stanionis and Crowley. 6 undefeated fighters, 4 current or former world champions, 4 talented hungry contenders. That would have generated interest and money.

Hopefully we’ll get a super fight at Welterweight one day!

Spence vs Crawford is a prime example. 2 accidents and he's lucky to have survived both. Of course, those are extreme cases. Anything can happen in just a week let alone five years. This has all got to do with my other thread Why is losing once so horrible in the sport of boxing?.

Losing is such a terrible thing in boxing. More and more fighters are doing the same nowadays. Won't even take ANY fight or choose not to fight at all.

From my perspective it goes wrong more than it goes right!
Spence vs Pacquiao, Mayweather v Pacquiao (way past their best, but I suppose it did generate an awkward lot of money), Spence vs Crawford, Joshua vs Fury, Joshua vs Wilder, Teofimo Lopez in general, Golovkin vs Charlo, Charlo vs Canelo, Beterbiev vs Bivol will likely never happen. We need the fights while they’re relevant.

When you make big fights happen, you bring spectators to the sport, you give boxing buzz again, even a losing effort can bring more fans if you display the talent and heart expected of you. Having said that some fans are fickle and write solid fighters off after a loss or too. ‍♂️

What a sport.
That's what happens when people swerve their mandatories! Fight or get stripped! If it walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, then it's a duck!

This is the fight at 147 I want to see most, second only to Spence/Crawford which may end up at 154 if they ever do fight.

Prime example is Mayweather vs. Canelo! That's why I want Spence to fight Jaron "Boots" Ennis! Give the young man a shot! Spence swore he would never give Thurman a fight, because Thurman didn't give him a shot when he was the young, hungry lion! Now Spence is doing the same thing to Boots Ennis! That's sad!

Shut up you damn racist! Is funny how you don’t call out Frank Martin, Tank Davis or Devin Haney for not taking the fight w/t the Boricua Shakur all of whom he’s called out. Also, nobody gives two dumps what Teddy Atlas says dude’s only been relevant lately for putting his foot in his mouth, LOL. You’re right though their are levels to this game and like Boots showed on his last fight he’s well below Vergil’s.

Mandatories are a dime a dozen in this sport. Take it from Wilder's trainer Malik Scott:

“It's looking like Ruiz, but in this game there's no telling as Deontay is big-time boxing. When you're bigtime boxing, and as sad or as unfortunate it may sound to some people, mandatories don't mean nothing. Fighters have stepped aside to make big, big fights happen.

“This goes on in boxing, it's what the fans want or what makes business sense for the fighters and their team. It's likely to be Ruiz but if not there are other negotiations going on as well.”

Wilder's next fight is being positioned to take place on a date in March or April.

"We could be going in March or early April but it really depends. The only thing I can say at the moment is Ruiz is mandated but Deontay is big-time boxing," Scott said.

“And when you have a big-time boxer like Deontay and a mandatory going on at the same time - and there's another bigger fighter - step a side happens some time, you never know. Business is willing to be made to make bigger fights happen."

Fighters need to chart their own course and be active. Jaron "Boots" Ennis got the tools to win fights, but too fearful to take any fight that poses any bit of risk.
