WTF did RJJ do tto Eubank Jr?

I don't really follow Eubank, but his older fights he used to have a high guard type of style where he would come at you crazy with uppercuts and try to get you out of there.

his new style doesn't fit him at all. he tries to emmulate RJJ with his hands down low and he has this sorry excuse for a jab. this had to come from RJJ.

    he looked horrible.

It works in bursts and he looks good doing it against stationary targets. Against Smith in Round 3 he had his success and it looked like the momentum of the fight was changing. Smith looked like he just froze and Eubank just stood there admiring his own work.

This is Eubank's biggest problem, big ego and relies solely on his athleticism and reflexes. Now his chin has left him and his confidence will be gone so he'll be more gunshy and present even more openings for his opponents once they sense his hesitation.

Eubank's best course should have been to press the action immediately but he doesn't have the temperament to do that. He'll always revert back to type because that's how he trains, spars and fights. It's one mode all the time.

He changed from a high volume sloppy fighter to a RJJ-impersonating sloppy fighter. I do think he was slightly better with the first style but 33 is a bit old to be relying upon stamina or athletic movement either way. He always needed to learn the fundamentals of boxing but never did it and it's hard to have success in later part of your career without a jab, good balance, punching technique etc.

yeah this. his best attribute was his ridiculous output and engine, which he resorted back to at one point in the Smith fight, when he started spamming 100 uppercuts like the old Jr. This Jones Jr impersonation is only going to see him get sparked out again and again imo, he doesn't have anywhere near the reflexes or athleticism to even attempt to mimic it.
Bring back Snr and his horse riding shoes and man purse just staring at Jr in-between rounds

I'm 99% positive Roy isn't teaching his style to anybody. He knows only he could do it and I believe Chris took it upon himself to pay an omage to last night. You got to understand, when Roy was hot all the UK bummers started fighting with their hands down tryin' to be Jones. I thought they were mostly gone, but Eubank felt the ghost of Christmas past or somehting and it cost him.

RJJ teaches what he knows. Which is fundamentally deficient boxing. I don't know why any pro would want to have him as a trainer. Other than his name, RJJ's brand of boxing is actually crap.

That definitely sounds like the Roy Jones style. I think when you have amazing speed, you can pull it off. Otherwise, it's terrible. I think that's why Roy had so many problems once he lost his speed.

It’s a classic case where a legendary fighter wants to make a current fighter himself . Obviously Jones was doing this just look at some of the training clips and vids ? Wheather it is the cause of the actual loss happening is irrelevant, what Jones taught him got him cornered and clipped with a very hard shot .

It’s why most can’t really train guys , a real trainer knows how to add to a fighters arsenal not remake them at this stage Eubanks was in , it’s why even champions like AJ can be gullible,I remember him mimicking Mayweather after meeting him at one point it has zero sense to it and I forget what fight that was but fighters need to use their own intelligence otherwise this usually happens .

Jones is smart kniws his boxing but unless he connects with a fighter it doesn’t work otherwise every ATG fighter would be training guys left and right making huge money on the side .
