Plus if you followed Roy you were getting knocked out because he had deadly power and lightning speed. It's a style no one will ever be able to successfully copy because of Roy reflexes. Both he and Floyd fought in the same era and no one ever said Floyd was near the talent or greatness of Roy.

You make a very good point. If you follwed Roy, you ended up like Bryant Brannon. I was at that fight. Ike Quartey vs Oba Carr was fight b4 Roy and I sat right next to Brannon's family from NJ, and near Quartey's ppl from Ghana who were playing drums. Brannon's ppl were telling me how he did 5 years in prison and he's been shot and stabbed and how he's gonna knock Roy out. I asked them if they wanted to make a friendly wager. When Roy started touching Brannon up, I was standing up in my seat screaming at Brannon's ppl until I lost my voice. The usher had to come ask me to sit down. Of course, I didn't listen. After the fight, Roy walked past with a tall hot blonde and we slapped five. He was the quickest, fastest fighter I ever saw live with my own two eyes, of any weight, including all the lower weight divisions. I saw Pernell live, too. Maybe Pernell was as just quick, and sharp as a razor in the ring

A kid? No, I have been here watching since the beginning. RJJr was a bigger star than Floyd during the 90's and early 00's. Floyd became the far bigger star years later. Roy was a great athlete and fighter for a time, but his technical deficiencies clearly caught up with him. This happened because he was nowhere near the overall fighter that Floyd was.Last edited by TheOneAboveAll; 01-23-2023, 01:59 PM.Comment
