Inoue is NOT a pure slugger. He's a phenominal boxer who has power in both hands.

That might be true. However, don’t get me wrong.

I just think that Fulton is an even better boxer than Inoue. Moreover, if Inoue can’t land anything big to disrupt Fulton’s rhythm and accuracy;

I cannot see him winning this fight on points unless there is corrupt judging.

Inoue went life and death with an old Nonito in their first fight. I got Fulton winning by a clear UD, unless they rob him in Japan like they did Franco.

It was a tough fight… from the second round Inoue fought with double vision and a fractured orbital bone. So, a severely injured Inoue did go life and death with Donaire. However, unless we’re expecting Inoue to turn up to the Fulton fight with double vision and facial fractures I don’t feel that past fight is particularly relevant to the version of Inoue we’re likely to see. I don’t know who’ll win, I just thought it sensible to put the first Inoue vs Donaire fight into context. That version of Inoue was handicapped from round 2.

Alright, so here’s the story so far.

Last week, news broke that an interim featherweight title fight between former super bantamweight rivals Stephen Fulton and Brandon Figueroa would headline a February 25th Showtime tripleheader at The Armory in Minneapolis alongside Subriel Matias vs Jeremias Ponce and Elvis Rodriguez vs Joseph Adorno.

Three days ago, ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez revealed that a clash between Figueroa and former titlist Mark Magsayo was “on the table” for March 4th.

Now, Mike Coppinger reports that Fulton is “engaged in talks” with former undisputed bantamweight king Naoya Inoue to meet this spring in Japan.

Whether Fulton (21-0, 8 KO) was using the possibility of the Figueroa rematch for leverage or if it the matchup came apart on its own, I doubt many will be shedding tears. “Cool Boy” vs Inoue (24-0, 21 KO) isn’t just the fight to make at 122, it’s one of the most tantalizing bouts in the entire sport.

These are genuinely two of the best boxers on the planet, elite technicians who are ready, willing, and able to knuckle down and trade heat when the situation calls for it. It’s the kind of matchup that keeps our interest in the sport afloat no matter how many controversies and mismatches and outright stinkers try to drag us down.

Hell, Fulton going to Inoue’s home turf is laudable in and of itself.

We’ll keep a sharp eye on if and how the matchup comes together. You’ll know as soon as we do.

Yeah I agree there. He's more a boxer-Puncher while Fulton is slicker and may be the most powerful guy Inoue has had to fight as well seeing as he fought all smaller weight men. This is a damn good fight if they can get it done.

Hmm, Inoue has virtuoso timing and the power to KO with one shot. He’s also a superb body puncher, a great finisher, and has footwork that allows him to stick to his opponents like glue. I personally think Inoue will find a way, he’ll time Fulton at some point and hurt him.

I stand corrected. Inoue can box and Fulton can fight on the inside which is why this fight is so intriguing.

However, if Inoue does win this fight then he is going to have to find away to keep Fulton on the inside because from the outside I can just see Fulton picking him apart.
