Comments Thread For: Wilder's Trainer: Andy Ruiz Presents Absolutely No Threat To a Disciplined Deontay!

Malik Scott, the head trainer for former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, is not worried about the abilities of former unified champion Andy Ruiz. Last year, the World Boxing Council ordered a four man tournament to determine a new mandatory challenger to WBC champion Tyson Fury.

We still don`t know how damaged Wilder is. Helenius fight told us nothing because Helenius was terrible.

If Wilder doesn`t stop Ruiz in first 4 rounds, things can be interesting.

Andy should make a beautiful offer to hire, or at a mimimum, study Dwight Muhammad Qawi. Then he'd beat Deontay,. Qawi made a sucker out of taller fighters without expending a lot of wasted energy or unnecessary movement. He would time them and out jab them. He knew how to bait them, make them miss and make them pay. He was able to relax and save all his energy for his punches. Andy needs a system like this, a defensive and offensive genius and a teacher who knows all the finer points of the sweet science. At the same time, Andy has to get in absolute dog shape for that fight, in order to be able to implement any game plan he chooses to his fullest potential

Andy did fine against AJ , rematch Andy lost rather than AJ won. I'd speed up Ruiz' foot movement so can get inside - once there, he can do a lot of damage.

We know Wilder is capable of boxing behind the jab, with discipline, for 12 rounds, because he did that to win his WBC title vs Stiverene. Ruiz has faster hands than Stiverne though, so it would be an interesting fight.

Andy beat AJ first time around because AJ was standing his ground and exchanging punches.

So I would say AJ lost the first fight by coming in with the wrong game plan, rather than Andy won it.
