Mikey was a good guy
He probably couldn't make weight anymore and had to move up.
Challenging the top dog was commendable, if not hysterical.
Ironic, if he had a loud mouth like Broner, he'd still be a name worth beating.Comment

I have much respect for Mikey, especially because he didn't allow himself to be continually robbed by Bob Arum! He took TR to court and won! It did cost him precious time off his career, but he came out victorious! He's real class act, and I think he should consider politics! I could see him as a Mayor, or in Congress! Enjoy retirement Champ!Comment

If you consider the fist he threw (pumped) after losing each round decisively, then sure, as you put it, "participation prize".——-
Mikey could have had a truly great career had he stayed at 135/140. His own brother and trainer advised him not to fight Spence. There was no way Mikey would ever beat Spence. Ever. It’s not that he didn’t try. He was just too small.
Can you imagine Tank or Haney or Shakur deciding they want to jump weight classes to fight Crawford or Spence? All the mapped out projections, expectations and perceived potential greatness would evaporate like a fart in the wind.
Mikey wasn't going to win, but he damn sure didn't try. Just like he didn't half try against Sandor Martin.Comment

I agree that he could’ve had a great career in the lower weight classes had he stayed there and also not had to sit out for 2 yrs due to the lawsuit. I also agree that he was too small for Spence but I disagree that he tried in that fight. The only thing he tried to do was survive. He talked a big game and didn’t let his hands go at all. I felt conned after all the talk he did, I at least expected him to get after it at some point in the fight.——-

You can’t say Mikey isn’t a talented boxer
Yes he was to small but it wouldn’t have been the end of the world if he won
At least his fist pumping throughout the fight was phenomenal
