I let my subscription lapse, but it was mainly to do with them losing the rights to show Premier League football where I am. Their boxing thing isn't compelling enough to have an ongoing subscription. It was OK; occasionally they'd have fights that were worth watching, but too frequently it was dross. It's part of boxing's problem in general. Boxing can't really survive if everyone fights in-house. Matchroom or Top Rank or PBC can't offer enough good fights unless they match up their fighters with each other... And things seem to be headed increasingly the wrong way.

I wouldn't dare argue with a fool, as you have proven time and time again, you great sir, are an idiot.
Ok show me the official stubs of how much is spent on promotions and venues. Show the exact amounts and show sources. I’ll wait here. Don’t just talk outta your arse. The guy makes 50+ plus million regardless of who he fights. And that’s because of the money he generates, because people watch, even the ones that wanna pretend they don’t care will still tune in to watch highlights of his fights lmao he’s got your money too because of the view you give him. And guess what , you won’t pay the ppv for the Ryder fight but you will be there in YouTube watching the dazn highlights right after the fight which in turn gets more views and attention to canelo which at this day and age generates more money . He’s got you hahahahahhahaComment

I agree. At one point in time some of the content was decent, but now everything that's worthy seems to be streamlined through some PPV medium.

This is the thing though, pbc and matchroom did work together the first year or two when pbc launched. I remember British fighters on pbc cards. Hearn and haymon did work together at one time. Hearn’s British fights were even shown on showtime. The question of “in house” fights wasn’t an issue. Something happened to cause a professional rift and that “thing” is why we have boxing with borders. But if I’m honest, at this point, there really is no one with matchroom that pbc needs for its fighters. Matchroom has really gone back to being a domestic promotion since so called “British boxing” is bare of stars. Golden boy yes, and it appears there isn’t fight in April between tank and Garcia in a joint pbc-golden boy/dazn productionLast edited by Oldskoolg; 01-13-2023, 01:58 PM.Comment

Dazn should fire Hearn and merge with PBC. Haymon would help turn Dazn around in America.
Maybe Haymon could then work with a British promoter to handle England and Europe.
I know it would never happen but it would be good for fans.Comment

"keep comparing" to keep comparing something i'd have to do it more than once... and not quite simpleton it's massive in Germany, Japan and Canda aka worldwide, stop being so narrow in your "world" view and it's not just about "boxing" or "America" either that's just Hearn and his idiotic talk and no one thought netflix was going to go anywhere either...
Are you dumb enough to still keep comparing Dazn to Netflix or Twitter? Dazn was never going to have the potential to be like any of those tech companies. Netflix and Twitter are worldwide platforms used by everyone. Dazn is an app that tried to use boxing to take over American sports. The problem is only about 3% of America follows boxing and of that 3% you can only count on 00001% to pay to watch it. Stop being silly boy!
And let's not forget Blavatnik isn't new to the entertainment business he's been involved in one way or another with Warner & Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and various other entertainment businesses like Deezer and ratpac and not only that's he more than doubled his net worth recently so think for a little bit if it wouldn't fry your circuits, short term losses for long term gains isn't a big deal...

I love how you idiots love ragging on dazn but praise pbc for its "bringing boxing back to free tv" despite all its fights being on ppv. Where's the free boxing at again?"Alvarez’s last two fights against Dmitry Bivol in May and Gennadiy Golovkin in September took place on DAZN pay-per-view, a new venture for DAZN that was designed to cover costs associated around licensing boxing events with the goal to generate more revenue in addition to their monthly subscription model.
The move came after DAZN had declared in advertising campaigns that the PPV model would no longer be relevant in boxing.
In March, DAZN's North America CEO Joe Markowski shared the company's renewed position around PPV with BoxingScene.com senior columnist Keith Idec.
“We are learning,” said Markowski. “And it’s why we’re not shirking away, and I’m not personally shirking away from comments we made about pay-per-view four years ago. I’m not gonna try and pretend that was just a marketing campaign, or I was just poking the bear. At the time, we genuinely believed it. We’re humble enough and honest enough to admit that we maybe, in hindsight, got that wrong. But ultimately, do we still maintain the commitment to value to our consumers? Absolutely."
I remember how many times people said "PBC is dead!" How many times did we hear Eddie Hearn say, "The PPV model is dead!" My favorite part of that quote: "At the time we genuinely believed it. We're humble enough and honest enough to admit that we maybe, in hindsight, got that wrong." So many haters on this site should take notes!

PBC won’t be around forever , DAZN will continue to be the number one platform for strictly boxing . It does better numbers then even ESPN in that area only Espn is a huge sports platform not a boxing one compared to that . It’ll also lose money and then gain it back ,it’s called a trickle effect and the original plan was a decade until they saw any real revenue back ,seems to me you have a lot of posters on here who think they are educated in business ?
DAZN should probably put even more money into the boxing market and extend its expected gains further down the line as it will always turn a profit anyway and look further ahead if it’s goal is to really go head to head with ESPN it should aquire rights to more U.S sports if anything it lands them more subscribers and a big loss is only temporary .Last edited by juggernaut666; 01-13-2023, 02:23 PM.Comment
