Was Pernell shot when he fought Oscar?

I'll be honest, I didn't watch a lot of Pernell's career so I can't really say if he was shot or not.

He was 33 and 12.5 years as a pro which puts him at the middle-end of his physical prime. If you turn pro at 18, the algorithm baseline I've created puts fighters historically at approx. 14-16 years pro and 32-34 years of age for boxing. Obviously, there are other factors like =--->
    • genetics
    • fight damage
    • lifestyle
    • gym wars
    • drugs
    • booze
    • etc.
Pernell turned pro 2 months before his 18th birthday.

I can't say for sure how much damage he took along the way, but his defensive style really makes me think he didn't take much. ******* use is well documented. Most of his wins were landslides. Close scores included:
    • Rivera
    • JCC
    • McGirt 1
    • Nelson
    • Ramirez
    • Trinidad
    • Bojorquez
    • Pendleton
I'm just trying to put it together if Oscar always get's the win or if a Sweet Pea that was 5 years younger changes the outcome.

I thought Pernell won that fight and I’m a fan of both. Robbery may be too strong a term or maybe not

not totally shot, but definitly was starting to show his age..

oscar had very fast hands though, and that's one of the things that gave sweet pea trouble in that fight, and probably would have given him some trouble even in his prime.

quartey was also past his prime when he fought oscar.

      both were very close fights.

i thought the whitaker vs. delahoya fight could have gone either way, and had quartey up by a point or two vs. delahoya..

          Hell no

Look at any 33 yr old today they are all still considered in their primes.

          Oscar schooled whitaker

33 is middle-end of prime. Stll prime if they qualify, but at the middle segment of the end. Physiology doesn't change, the human body deteriorates at a certain rate in boxing.

              - - PeaShooter had most of what a fighter needs save he was a clown at heart and the circus don't pay much for Grade A clowns much less Grade B.

Ramirez first exposed Duva and PeaShooter who ran out of steam after walking into a dozen left hooks to his liver, but oh he quick and showy and put on clown shows. Took Frankie Randell to expose how much JC Chavez had declined after 89 fights, not PeaShooter who clowned the great champ in front of his people instead of beating him like a Man.

Terrible tragic end for him, but such are The Fates.
