I really don't care about who is or who isn't a ticket seller.

I just want to see the best against the best.

This fight was not a fair fight, that's why it didn't sell

I personally think it's kind of weird. I don't know why tax information and gate attendance is fascinating... unless we have a lot of Algebra majors here. (hm, i actually hope so- would explain the **** spelling alot of Floyd haters showcase)

Here is something to consider, Floyd haters. If you can research facts and figures, consider this one:

12.5 MILLION AMERICANS OUT OF WORK.

I hope that sends you into fits of giggles as well. After all, going to see a live boxing event in circumstances like that, especially when all is available were not the best seats, is sure to not be as much of a priority when it is, in fact, a luxury. According to a CNN research, 2 million more Americans have lost their jobs since May alone. You mean to say that isn't even a slight factor in gate attendance? Concerts, stand up comedy- all of it isn't doing the same numbers it was doing a year ago.

Probably 9,000 of the audience were Marquez fans/supporters. Marquez did his part. The 3,000 people that came for Mayweather were just people he owes money to that were trying to collect.

Only 12,000 of the 13,000 seats sold at face value.

That reads completely differently - doesn't it? The reality is that having over 90% at face value is very good. Fewer than 10% were discounted. And anyone who knows a bit about economics knows price elasticity.

"Sold out" is meaningless. DELAHOYA-PACQUIAO DID NOT SELL OUT.

          Delahoya-Pacquiao: 14,468
          Mayweather-Marquez: 13,116

In that context, it looks different - doesn't it? May/Marq sold 3,000 more tickets than Cotto-Marg (La Battalla attendance was 10,044).

I'm sure that FMJ and GBP would have liked for the fight to sell out. That would have been sweet. But to everybody involved, the PPV sales are far - FAR - more important.
enjoying and learning all the time

Mayweather's next fight will be against Mosley or the winner of Pac/Cotto. Is that enough of a step up for you or is Mosley the only step up because Pac is too small and Cotto has been in too many wars? And if he beats Mosley, will you not consider that a step up because Mosley was over the hill (not now, but he will suddenly be after the Mayweather fight)?

If you look at Mayweather's last five opponents, including Marquez, and compare it to Cotto's, Pac's or Shane Mosley's last five, an objective observer will see that Mayweather has fought higher rated competition (based on the Pound-for-Pound and division ratings) than all of these guys. The only boxer whose resume over his last five fights compares to Mayweather is....wait for it haters.......Juan Manuel Marquez!!!

Was Pac/Marquez a fair fight because it didn't sell, at least not compared to this fight. What about Pac/David Diaz? Was that a fair fight since it didn't sell either?

This makes a lot of sense. We all know that Marquez is a huge ticket seller. That is why his last two fights against Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor were on PPV! Oh, wait, those fights were on regular HBO! I guess they were just tuneups for his megafight against Mayweather!!!
