149 may be his best fighting weight ON THE NIGHT, but that is not his best official weigh-in weight.

Your twisting the facts a little.

If a welterweight weighed in at 147, they would be at least 156 on fight night, which would be their best fighting weight. Does that mean they should be fighting at middleweight?

So are you saying Manny cannot weigh 147 at the weigh-in, but on fight night he can be over and it would be perfectly fine?

When he fought Oscar he was spectacular at Welter Weight. Does that mean he can't fight at Welter Weight again because he shouldn't be fighting at that weight?

He's fighting Cotto at Welter Weight, and according to Freddie one or two pounds are not goning to win or lose a fight.

He can...but that would not mean that it's his optimum fighting weight.

By the looks of it currently. Pacquiao is virtually unbeatable at 140 at the moment. But very mortal looking at 147. Same goes for several other world class fighters.

So, I'm sensing that Manny was just waiting for Mayweaether to be out of the picture momentarily to chase fights at a higher weight (weights where he's not at his best) because he wants to prove he can fight at the higher weights.

Yet, instead of going back down to his best fighting division (140) he decides he can hang around the Welters, at a catch-weight no less.

          Making any sense?

And it's exactly that kind of b.s. why i didnt like the catchweight idea in the 1st place. And who's to say mayweather is in the picture at WW?? It's not like he's currently the #1 ranked welter.

Following that same logic....Floyd beat Oscar delahoya at 154 for the WBC belt. And Oscar delahoya was "arguably" the #1 jr middleweight at the time. THEREFORE FLOYD IS AN ELITE JR MIDDLEWEIGHT. What is he doing fighting lightweights and jr welterweights at welter if he's an elite jr. middleweight??

              P.S.

I am in no way bashing Floyd. I'm just saying that this train of thought the Floyd Stans are rallying behind is really ******ed.
You really call Floyd a JMW? He was in his depth them moving up there for one fight.

I just hate how people act like this is the first time anyone has ever moved around in weight classes to make big fights. I agree I'm not a fan of the catchweight thing either but cmon.

Read the whole thing again and you'll understand I dont really personally feel that way. Just that if I followed the same logic that Floydstans are implying for Pac....that's what it would imply about Floyd.
