Comments Thread For: Devin Haney Downplays Hector Garcia's Chances Against Gervonta Davis

Before his 2022 unfolded, the career of Hector Luis Garcia was floundering into obscurity. Despite being undefeated and a former Olympian, the 31-year-old was given the slimmest of chances during his showdown against Chris Colbert. Yet, even with the Brooklyn native bombastically proclaiming that he made quick work of his man, he was forced to eat his words as Garcia cruised to a unanimous decision victory.

I think Haney is probably right. I thought Colbert was a bit overrated and he didn't see to be focused. Garcia is a tough fighter but I'm just not sure he will be able to hold up to the pop of Tank over the course of the fight.

I agree with Haney. Tank Davis is a master of picking opponents that have flashy records, but little real chance to beat him. Santa Cruz, Barrios, Romero and now Garcia.

Devin throwing shade, but he was fighting Fortuna and Jo Jo just the other day! Garcia is real threat, with the pedigree to prove it!

IMHO Fortuna and JO JO both would beat Garcia. I think both would be decent fights but Garcia would lose.

Yea,Hector is a decent fighter but boxes in an agressive, careless manner that favors any slugger, especially one as explosive as Tank. Hector achilles heel here will be his tendency to get into exchanges. In those exchanges his guard is always low, he has zero head movement and throws relatively slow combinations that can, and will, be timed in short order by Tank. Then you have very little pop to keep the bigger, more explosive fighter honest? Smart matchmaking....

Fight will not go past 6rds imo.

My friend you have articulated exactly what I meant in a much better way than I could. I will leave it at that.

Additionally, I had to go back an edit my original post to make it make sense. I'm glad you could figure out what the heck I meant because I barely could.
