He's spot on here. Whilst mental health problems are real, several fighters have cynically manipulated the label. The Gypsy Clown is a classic example, who went on a voluntary drink and drug binge after running away from Klitschko all night, to distract from his positive PED test and to duck a rematch. Don't get me wrong, Fury has never been right in the head, but it's a pre-existing condition, not a recent development .

If you can’t fight because you’re going through a mental health crisis then you should be stripped of your belt. The same goes for injured fighters. If your body and brain can’t withstand the rigours of training, then you shouldn’t be allowed to hold the belts hostage and that is especially true in the current boxing climate where many boxers only fight once or twice per year. God damn, there are fighters that fight only once every 18 months - 2 years. Imagine a hockey team postponing a game in the Stanley cup playoffs because their star player got injured!! Boxers have turned into a bunch of pu$$y divas!!

Even if it’s not a pre-existing condition, a fighter should not be allowed to weasel their way out of a fight. Boxing and all sports are about both mental strength and physical strength and fortitude. If your mind or body breaks down, that shows a weakness in the fighter and/ or some kind of mismanagement of their diet and/ or training camp. Maybe they’re too old and their body is breaking down. In that case they should retire. Nobody should be given a pass for cancelling or postponing a fight if it’s due to the fighter’s mind or body being compromised. We watch fights to see who has the most skill, strength, toughness, fortitude. If a fighter is fragile that is no excuse to be giving them a pass. This is boxing, the strong survive and the weak die. Unfortunately, the upper echelon fighters who bring in more money are the ones who get special treatment and are allowed all the luxuries to postpone fights and hand pick their opponents. It’s really frustrating being a boxing fan.
