Comments Thread For: Stephen Fulton-Naoya Inoue: The WBO Opens a Window

By Cliff Rold - It wasn't a surprise given the rules and standards of the World Boxing Organization but the news on Wednesday was welcome. As reported in the Japan Times and multiple other outlets, 29-year old undisputed bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (24-0, 21 KO) was "awarded the status of bantamweight super champion in the World Boxing Organization's latest rankings, giving him priority for a title shot if he moves up to challenge American Stephen Fulton in the weight division above."

Inoue vs Fulton is a bad ass matchup man. Crossing my fingers this one happens in 2023.

Fulton and Al will try to drag Inoue up to 126 to make sure they have every advantage.

Inoue ducked black fighters all throughout his career. Top Rank will continue to feed him that soft serving deluxe!

You're not ******. You know there's no way it will happen. Uncross your fingers. It would do zero buys on PPV. Top Rank and PBC aren't going to collaborate on that fight. Not happening.

If it happens Inoue should do his camp in Cali.....read my signature as to why.

While I’m skeptical. I do think it’s possible. They won’t collaborate but they might let Fulton fight on ESPN I think.

This fight won't happen. Inoue avoided all the top fighters at 115 when he was there and they were all going round-robin yet the boxing world still wants to place him as a P4P.
