Comments Thread For: Lawrence Okolie-David Light WBO Title Fight Set For March 11 in London, Avoid Purse Bid

Lawrence Okolie has every intention of his next fight taking place without Matchroom Boxing. The unbeaten WBO cruiserweight titlist will move forward with his mandatory title defense versus number-one contender David Light. A deal was reached within the one-week extension period, thus avoiding a purse bid hearing that was scheduled to take place on Thursday at WBO headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Per both camps, their fight will take place on March 11 at an unspecified location in Okolie's London hometown, with Boxxer to present the event. The agreement was presented to the WBO via email, with both camps and the sanctioning body copied on the correspondence from which Matchroom was intentionally omitted.

This should have been Brandon Glanton's shot. He CLEARLY defeated Light.

Finally, Okolie is now free of that leech Eddie Hearn.

Apparently the “global domination” will not be televised…

Let's see what Hearn does next.I think it's a case of the Rolex watch trick didn't work with Lawrence and young Edward has been seen through again .

Yeah that was a head scratcher. Glanton was the house fighter and fighting in his promotion's back yard. I thought he was the clear winner yet he doesn't get the nod..

So Okolie was right all along and Hearn was just shelving him for the past 12 months. Scumbag behaviour.

I remember back in 2011/2012 when Hearn would make fun of Warren for being bitter and rancorous after years in the boxing business. Eddie has now become that man, he was become what he once mocked.

Okolie’s plan has always been: Cruiserweight title. Unify. Heavyweight. I expect him to move up to HW by 2024 at the latest.

Looks like SKY have all the cards at Cruiserweight now, at least the Brit fighters. Be interesting to see how they promote it as it struggles for excitement. Certainly I've become more interested since Okolie's Hearn troubles have happened!
