"Pacquiao is a Blown Up 126 Pounder", - Joe Santiago

After his resounding victory over Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday, Floyd Mayweather immediately mentioned his desire to fight against Manny Pacquiao. And HBO boxing commentators quickly song along with him, virtually ruling out a Cotto victory over Manny Pacquiao on November 14.

But these comments, nor the general feeling among the so-called experts, most of which favor Pacquiao, undermine the confidence in Joe Santiago, Cotto's trainer

"Manny Pacquiao is a blown up 126 pounder. He is a fighter who started at 108 pounds and has reached the 145. It is very bold and so far has gone well, but on November 14, the history will be different, "said Santiago to El Nuevo Dia

"We feel great respect for his career and we take our hats for all he has done in boxing, but that day, Miguel is going to be the stronger man in the ring. That will be one of the points in our favor, "he added.

Cotto and his working group, headed by Joe Santiago and trainer Philip Landman, began this week his barracks in Tampa, after several weeks of training on the island While Pacquiao finally began preparation Tuesday.

"We heard that they had not begun training, that they have discord and problems in training camp, but that's their problem. We do not eat any stories, "said Santiago, ensuring that in the early sparring that has Cotto has made he dontes have any problems with the injury he suffered in his left eyebrow in his fight against Joshua Clottey in June and they took 22 points suture.

"Everything went very well. The plastic surgeon's work was excellent and you cant notice anything about the injury. I do not think that is something for us to worry. That was not the first time that Miguel was cut and none of his previous cuts have been opened then. "

Santiago also reported that Frederick TUKES lefty will be the first 'sparring partner' for Cotto in Tampa. TUKES, who at 36 years and six active on professionalism has made only 9 fights (7-1-1), was his sparring partner when he trained for Zab Judah.

"We will use several small people who are lefties very similar to what Manny may bring," Joe said, anticipating that Cotto could do a number of rounds of sparring similar to what hemade for the Clottey fight, which was "between 120 and 130 ".

Haha, he says good things about Pac, but with the way you titled it, watch people not even read the article and just start blasting him.

And he's also wrong about Cotto's cuts not opening up...The cut from inside his mouth from the Judah fight opened up against Mosley.

Those sparring rounds sound low to me.

Pacquiao is a blown up super featherweight. He just has amazing speed, stamina, and carried his power up with him. He reminds me of a less durable version of prime Sugar Shane.

I actually like that comparison. Two speedy sluggers that people always mistake for good technical boxers.

And yes, Shane is more durable.

              SB,

I don't believe that SSM really carried his power up w him. He was a concussive "one-punch" puncher at 135. But he is an accumulative puncher at 147.And i think that prompted him into the steroid abuse.

If you look at SM's history at WW and 154, he really hasn't gotten good fighters out of there. Until Margarito. And that was after a shyteload of clean overhand rights.

Even with vargas and mayorga: compare how Oscar/Tito did with those guys vs how Shane did. And Shane fought the MUCH worse versions.

              What do you think?

When did Cotto bleed from the mouth in the Mosley fight¨? Did I missed something?!

They way Joe sounds, is that he knows that Cotto is the one with better overall boxing skills and that many could overcome more skilled fighters in the lower divisions beause Manny was always the bigger guy, this time, Manny cant impose himself phisically, nor can outbox Cotto. SO he needs to reinvent himself and fine new ways of fighting.

By the way, I saw all Mannys fights since 2007 till the Hatton fight fight, and Manny has fought the same.

1.He doesnt throw a punch when push back or moving backwards.
2.Always lowers his right hand to his waist before throwing a straight left.
3.Always reaches too far with his punches, hence why JMM counterpunch the **** out of him(I still think manny won though).
4.When he gets touched, he starts swinging 4 or 5 wild punches.

And a lot bunch of **** I saw that he does wrong, that he was able to overcome, do to his size, strength and speed at the weigh!!!!!

Yea, you must have missed it. The interpreter confirmed it to the HBO team that the cut reopened in his mouth in the 9th round....part of the reason he stopped fighting so aggressively.

Pacquiao has carried the weight well. Cotto's got this one though.
