since the Lara fight, that's all canelo has fought, except for plant, which is a good fighter, not elite, but a good fighter, he might even got better by the defeat.Comment

About the best people can say about the fight is that they're happy for John Ryder.
I guess Canelo has obligations at 168, but I was hoping for a fight vs a contender at 175 . "Earn" the rematch, convince people at LHW. .
The only thing I can say is that just idea that Canelo was going to sit out for the first quarter of 2023 might have prompted Benavidez/Plant to make a fight, so that is some good coming out of this. Those guys can write a script of their own and add some depth to the sport/division, I'm very excited for that.Last edited by LA_2_Vegas; 12-17-2022, 05:12 PM.Comment

Why are we talking about Janibek, Munguía, etc? Those guys are middleweight, not super middle.
Canelo's mandatories would be the winner of Plant v Benavidez, Ryder, and David Morrell, with William Scull currently at the top of the IBF.
Benavidez is already scheduled to fight Plant. If he wins that, Canelo should definitely have to fight him or vacate. He and David Morrell are the ranked contenders with the biggest names that he hasn't faced already. Ryder is a reasonable tune-up to test out his wrist health. Certainly better than Yildirim (or Scull, who hasn't fought anybody, and has a very flat jerky style that's IMO not ready for the top level; how the IBF has him ranked above the other top guys, especially Plant who was their champ, is crazy).Last edited by crimsonfalcon07; 12-17-2022, 07:00 PM.Comment

I'm sure a non hating, true boxing fan like yourself can name at least 3 fighters with better resumes (including details). Naming the 3 without going into detail is pure weak sauce.Comment
