Comments Thread For: Stevenson Says He May Fight Kambosos Next, Says Cruz and Zepeda Turned Him Down

Shakur Stevenson has yet to formally step foot inside the ring as a 135-pounder, but the southpaw ace is already tired of the division's politics.

“I think it’s sad,” Stevenson said. “I think boxing is in a sad state, when fighters can just duck and get away with it. I think that the fans and everybody allowed them to duck. Nobody really got on top of them the way that if I was to do something like that, or Devin, or let’s say anybody you know in the sport—If they do that they (the fans) gonna hop on they ass, so honestly I feel like boxing is just getting sad that they allow fighters to duck like that.”
We agree, Shakur. So call your friend and tell him this.

Anyway, interesting that Kambosos is next ranked after two clear losses. Slim division much?

Isaac Cruz is definitely on a protection plan since his loss to Tank. And Zepeda is on a special Goldenboy diet like Munguia (Zurdo used to be on that diet too).

But Stevenson is with a big promoter so it seems like Top Rank need to overpay some opponents, or they can do some in-house matchmaking with Muratalla, Ortiz and Loma (after he fights Haney).

I said it before, Shakur is not fuc king around. He wants to fight top opponents and can't secure one. He really wants to make a case for himself to challenge for the titles.

Shakur is right! If him and Haney were to walk away from a WBC ordered fight, the whole boxing community would be on them heavy! I hope PBC has something good for Pitbull, because he's now walked away from KingRy & Shakur! Where's his people at? Silence is not golden in this case! I thought Zepeda wanted hat work too?

It would be horrifically amusing if this fight was on PPV, Kamboso is Walmart tier

Shakur needs to fight Haney. If Loma and Arum won't give Haney the fight in March that he's asking for, Shakur can and will take it. This is Haney's last fight on Top Rank and at 135, so people will definitely want to see the two young lions go at it. Same promoter, so there's nothing in the way, and both get to show their skills against elite competition before Devin moves up, also Shakur said that he wanted to be back in the ring by March. Either Loma and Bob take it in March, or get in with Stevenson.

True what Shakur says, boxing is not in a good state.

I'll say one thing about Kambosos, he's quite tough and comes to fight, win or lose.

And this is why I miss when the “warrior” status was actually accurate when talking about guys like Barrera and morales and Marquez. These days you have Zepeda and Cruz shook to take a fight with a guy making his debut in a weight class when he didn’t even have a a ko% in a smaller weight class. Where the outrage from the fan base that loves to accuse everyone else of ducking?
