BREAKING NEWS: Butler post fight comments

Butler paid tribute to Inoue as a "very, very good fighter" and acknowledged that he "fell just short".

"You can see the punches coming but sometimes you can't react quick enough to get out of the way, because he is that fast,"

"That's what really good fighters do -- they have good timing, good accuracy and good speed, and sometimes you just can't get out of the way of that."

"He's quite ignorant in his defense,"

"He knows he's got punching power and he knows he's got a good chin himself.

"Maybe when he goes up the weights, not that he'll come unstuck but I think he'll have a little bit more to think about."

Inoues lack of defence was because he began taking more and more chances trying to get Butler to throw something he could counter off, his head movement and defence were at times brilliant, Inoue is the complete package.

According to Compubox, Butler landed only 12.6% of his punches. That is for Inoue's lack of defense. Whooping 38 punches received in 11 rounds. Even though he does have tendency to "neglect" defense when going for the kill.

Butler went there to go as far as he could with a murderous puncher, and tell the story to his nephews. His aim was achieved, I would say.

          the crazy thing is
most of the punches that butler landed
were because inoue was trying to bait him to open up

if inoue minded his defence, i doubt butler would have landed much of anything

i also noticed that inoue didn't even react to most of butler's feints
          catlike reflexes

Of course he was, but he did manage to stay for 11 rounds, contrarily to all expectations, as opposed to more renowned fighters (who, in truth, actually tried to win - ask Manny Rodriguez...) who lasted 1-3 rounds.

I didn't watch the fight but I do know that a lot of fighters will sacrifice defense and even take a punch or two if they feel in control and are trying to go for the knockout. Just because the other guy landed in those moments, does not mean that the fighter in control was lacking. He simply let something go to get something else.

Butler is probably just feeling sore now that he came to his senses and trying to talk down Inoue's attributes.
