Is Ortiz his mandatory challenger; Because if he is then Golden Boy needs to enforce it ASAP? For the exception of his fanboys; Most boxing fans would like to see Bud in some real good, tough and entertaining scraps. Which was the main reason we were all disappointed when he ducked ESJ.

One side says definitively that Bud is ducking Spence. The other side says Spence is ducking Bud. It feels like politics!
I was interested in Bud some years ago and looked forward to his fight. He then did not put his foot on the gas pedal and showboated. Friggin GROSS. I tapped out on him forever after that disgrace.Comment

Good fight. Peach of a shot by Crawford, the kind of thing I could see knocking Spence cold too. Since Porter it doesn’t seem Crawford will be leading on the cards vs Spence though. He doesn’t move like he used to, or it’s just the inactivity.Last edited by SplitSecond; 12-11-2022, 08:38 AM.Comment

It just depends on whether or not you think Spence is in the wrong for refusing Crawford “approval on expenses” in a fight where Crawford stood to make all of his money from the event itself. Spence’s refusal to agree to that until the fight was pushed into next year, opted Crawford to go another direction to stay busy. One side says definitively that Bud is ducking Spence. I'm not sure tbh. It's possible that he isn't currently a mandatory, but he does have the #1 spot. So, he'd be first in line for a final eliminator if he wanted one. He beat McKinson to become WBA mandatory (?), but that victory also helped improved his WBO standing because McKinson was also WBO-ranked.

I'm under the impression that GBP will use Crawford as an emergency option should they not be able to make Ortiz vs. Stanionis/Spence.Comment

A great chin? He's been wobbled by smaller fighters and dropped by Kavaliauskas.Please. As much as I loved Tommy Hearns, he would have easily gotten knocked out by Crawford. Spence is still a fraud and always will be. Ugas being a title holder was an absolute joke. An aging, over the hill win against ol man Manny who, unfortunately, is way past his prime. Loved Ugas’s piņata defense against Spence. Even with the money accounting dispute, Bud should have signed on for the Spence fight and set terms for a second fight. Bud is still one of the greatest fighters I’ve ever seen in the history of boxing. A commanding ring presence, a great chin and the ability to solve and break down any fighter. Lethal power with both hands and the ability to fight orthodox or southpaw style.Comment

You know zip about boxing. I grew up in Detroit and followed Hearns throughout his career including his first title win against Pipino Cuevas. Sugar Ray Leonard stopped Hearns by TKO and Hagler destroyed Hearns by knockout. Bud would walk right through Hearns, just like Hagler did, and put him on the floor.Comment
