Comments Thread For: Poor Performances Could Entice Bigger Names To The Negotiating Table Says Bozy Ennis

The spotlight is burning brighter than ever as Jaron "Boots" Ennis becomes a more prominent name. Following several highlight-reel level knockouts, including against Sergey Lipinets, Thomas Dulorme, and Custio Clayton - the soft-spoken welterweight contender has been pegged as the division's next big thing.

Fighting credible opponents would also raise your profile, making you a bigger attraction, which would entice bigger names.

I always think these are ****** comments to make - yes, he's probably right in some instances (see Bivol - lacklustre against Richards and Salomov, gets the fight with Canelo and dominates), but he's better off continually making statements. Someone non top-10 he should be decimating, not labouring to a decision in the hope it entices Thurman in.

Thurman is a huge duck by the way - it's a fight I'd love to see, but he's demanding $10m. If you want a shot at Spence, earn it by beating Ennis - then we'd never complain. He'd get a few million for it anyway, it's a huge 'changing of the guard' fight, in a glamorous division.

Absolutely spot on - although I don't really blame him for this one if it's for the interim and it's the highest ranked guy they could get, it's still very disappointing on paper.

In Thurman's current condition, he gets stopped or has to resign in the corner vs Ennis. Even he knows this. More noble to get beat by Spence for a retirement check. Enough lames out here to pay for the trash fight.

“What we gotta do is go in there and look bad,” said Derek during an interview with YSM Sports Media. “Still win the fight but look bad. Set a little trap.”

That's an awful strategy! Now you can tell him to put on a clinic, show off his defense for about 3-4 rounds! However, take the guy out in less than 7!

No one can blame him! Nobody wants that work, so yeah, they went with the highest ranked fighter! However, after this, the IBF has to make Spence fight him, or vacate!

They better be careful with that line of thought. It could easily become habit forming, if he were to take rounds off or not put his all into certain patches of a fight just to appear regular, it may not be as easy to switch that gear when he needs it. Your habits establish what you are and become.

No, what they have to do is find Errol Spence or Keith Thurman in public. Let Boots step to them smiling, friendly. them have a few respectful words, then suddendly escalate the friendly exchange into something about them ducking and being cowards. When they return the same energy, quickly slap them in the mouth, have someone break it up b4 they can get any get back, video the whole sequence so it goes viral. Then they'll be publicly shamed into making the fight or risk looking like true cowards. That's the same strategy BooBoo should've used against Canelo, or that Aaron Pryor should have used on Sugar Ray Leonard when he invaded his press conference years ago. He was way too nice. He would've greatly embarrassed Leonard and gained a psychological advantage over him if he woulda went from being kind to just suddenly slapping the sh.t outta him. And he would've gotten the fight that we all wished we would've seen, but never did.

Ennis will get the fights, but it will be against the next generation of welterweights, not the Crawford/Spence/Thurmans. Those three will be able to avoid the fight for long enough to retire in a couple years.
