  • Why Has No One Talked About JMM Talking About Weight?

Look, we all know that there was a size advantage but am I the only one who has lost a ton of respect for JMM since this fight? Ive seen him talk about the fight about 5 times and all 5 times he basicaly says that he only lost because of the weight. He never even talked about anything Floyd did. It sounds like one of those guys who are sore losers and cant ever admit they may have really lost a fight. I was able to overlook his stuff with the other black fighter who's named I cant think of right now, I overlooked him dis*****g the John fight, and I overlooked him dis*****g the Pac fight but this fight was clear as day.

Again, the weight and size definatly was there but people asked him about that stuff a million times before the fight and every single time he said that its not an issue. Its like people were even trying to get him to say something about it and he wouldnt. You could tell it was genuine too, like he really didnt think that the weight would be much of an issue and he felt great at that weight. Then soon as he loses he talks non stop about it. I could live with it if he lost to a huge brawler who JMM is twice as skilled but that wasnt the case in this fight. He was also getting outskilled and out smarted but he wont admit that in any way. Im not even saying any of this in a normal sense. Im just saying that I hate it when anyone loses clearly and doesnt give there opponent any credit. He atleast couldve said some good things. I think he knew that he had the media & fans back though because they hate Floyd so he could get away with putting every single thing on the weight as to why he lost

again, I wouldnt even be upset with him saying it if he had talked alot about it before the fight but he always said that it was no factor and then as soon as he gets shut out he makes it sound like he's a much better fighter than Floyd but the weight was just too much. You cant have it both ways. Im not saying that he cant talk about it but he can aknowledge it and still give props to his opponent for other things he did. Its not like it was a close fight where he could put it all on weight

You never really know until you get into the ring. Also he didn't know until the last second that Floyd came 2 lbs over the agreed upon weight limit, adding even more weight than originally planned for.

now I will give him that but he was even asked after that and he still didnt say that it was a problem. Also again lets be real, my main point was that it was clear that it wouldnt have mattered much about the 2 pounds or the overall size. There were alot of other issues in that fight as to why JMM didnt win and you could atleast aknowledge that.

Something about the way he says it just rubs me the wrong way. I say that because the whole time he said it wasnt an issue but now I bet anything that going into his next fight with Hatton or whoever, he's going to say that he's really still undefeated because of the weight. You know? I just dont like when people do that. Even if you want to do that then just do both but dont do it all on weight after you said the complete opposite before the fight because it sounds like an easy out.

marquez has never once said that was the only reason, he said it was a factor in the fight, he also said had things been different in size, the fight would have been different.

You have a selective memory. JMM's been nothing but deferential to Floyd all along.

He's just been saying that the weight was too much for him and he's right.

JMM at 30' vs. Floyd is a helluva fight.

              A tossup fight imo.

It's annoying right??? Kinda like when he was following Pacquiao around like the papparazzi screaming "I Win" at every opportunity.

Sometimes you ignore the most pertinent factor simply to give yourself some hope. Many people in the media kept asking Marquez how he will overcome Floyd's size and his own ability to carry the weight, the biggest factors against him winning. Sometimes fighters try to ignore the obstacles in order to, in their minds, increase their chance of success. Only until you're in the ring watching events unfold does the cold hard reality come crashing down upon you that maybe the weight is a problem and maybe he is too big.

For now I shall give Marquez the benefit of the doubt. At 130-135 I can say with full conviction that the fight would have been different. Maybe Marquez would have still lost, but Floyd would not have looked so dominant.
