Jaron Ennis will take a significant step January 7 toward securing a legitimate welterweight title shot. BoxingScene.com has learned that the talented contender from Philadelphia will fight Ukraine's Karen Chukhadzhian that night for the IBF interim 147-pound championship. Their 12-round fight will be the co-feature of a Showtime Pay-Per-View telecast that Gervonta Davis and Hector Luis Garcia will headline at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Good to see more of Ennis to put the pressure on the 'top' guys to fight him but who is 'Karen' it can't be his Mrs. ...that's against the law!

What a shame that PBC has such a deep pool of welterweights, yet they constantly have to turn elsewhere to find opponents willing to face Boots.

also, how the fooook does the IBF have this dude ranked #4? He’s beaten literally no one.

It's because he recently won IBF's Intercontinental belt.

On a side: While I understand the choice given it's for the IBF belt, if I were Boots, I would have just gone after Yeleussinov.

Yeleussinov is undefeated, he's also the IBO champion, for what that's worth now.

This kid has horrible management. Get him in with Crowley, Butaev, Kavaliauskas who just fought under PBC, make an offer to Rocha, Cobbs, Bes*****. Or if this kid is that badass fight someone with a hint of notoriety at 154. Sht, beat GARSH’s ass at 154. Atleast.

So this fight will basically makes Boots the IBF champion if Spence don't fight him next.
