The tallest welterweight ever is Guillermo Jones, as far as I know. 6'4 and with the equal reach, 76.

Height and reach are extremely important. Just look at Tommy Hearns at Welter, or now Paul williams. Why do you think Mayweather is not even mentioning paul williams name. Look at what Forrest used to beat Mosley, his height and reach. The reach issue can nullify the speed of the shorter fighter. By keeping that long jab in the face of the shorter faster fighter, this makes the shorter fighter become either insignificant and the taller fighter goes on to win (Mosley vs Forrest) or the sshorter fighter has to get underneath that jab and reach, and make it a war (leonard - hearns).Truthfully alot of fans judge size on those things but I never do. I hate it when people argue about it too. I think size in boxing is just one single thing and thats weight and more specificaly fight night & walk around weight. The other things matter but to me they are just natural attributes. Like alot of guys try to say that someone is clearly the bigger fighter just because there tall and or have a long wing span but I always tell people to look at Paul Williams & Mike Tyson. The point is its the weight thats the main thing. I think its totally fair for a 6'5 guy to fight a 5'5 guy if they both weigh the exact same thing. I think its a totally even fight and everyone has there advantages but the one single advantage that matters in boxing is the weight because people sometimes gain like 20 pounds after a weigh-in why another guy may not be able to gain any
