Comments Thread For: Daniel Dubois: Kevin Lerena Caught Me and I Felt Like My Knee Went

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London - Daniel Dubois is still the WBA "regular" heavyweight champion of the world, but such a status looked heavily in doubt in the first round of his first defense against Kevin Lerena.

There appears to be a vulnerability to Dubois’s punch resistance so early on in his career already, I do fear for him stepping up and fighting world class opposition again, His team are probably better off slowing his trajectory at this point. I hope I’m wrong though.

It looked weird but I've had similar things happen when a joint goes a bit weak but then comes back. He did well to ride through it and get the win.

He still doesn't seem to have much head movement, defence or the best boxing iq imo. He's still young but I'm not seeing enough improvements yet.

how is it disingenuous when he was saying to his trainer between rounds that his knee went?

He loves bashing up stiffs, but just doesn't truly have the heart for proper fights. He should get out now while he's healthy, and before he embarrasses himself any further.

He got hurt Big Time! He was very close to being stopped, and that would've started his career in a downward spiral.
As it is, it is evident that Daniel Dubois is a fragile fighter, kudos to Kevin Lerena for almost producing one of the upset's of the year.
As exciting as Lerena made the fight by dropping Dubois once, and forcing him to take a knee twice shortly there after from lingering effect's, and applied pressure.
He didn't go after the knockout, and let his golden opportunity of a lifetime slip away, Dubois didn't make that same mistake, and took him out.
It was a really exciting fight while it lasted, and enormous respect for Dubois' incredible comeback (snatching victory from the jaw's of defeat)! WOW!
