That was a made up figure by a desperate Youtuber. The narrative was Canelo turned down $54 million for a Charlo fight to cherrypick Bivol.Comment

What the idiots still don't understand is that PPV is over. PPV is an outdated marketing model for today.
Canelo is the last superstar in boxing and will likely remain the last. One of the dozens of proofs of this is that even he started to have difficulties in PPV sales, selling 1 million "globally" in his last fight, while he used to sell 1 million only in US before. Because of that, I don't think there will be any next superstar in boxing anymore.
High level PPV is now only available in UK. The delusional fans out there still buy a good amount of PPV. Joshua's last two bouts sold 1.2 million.
The goal now is not to sell PPV, but to build your PR by fighting on as many "continents" as possible. That's why he'll be successful in both PPV and PR by fighting in UK.
He should fight in one of the Arab countries after Ryder. They have the ability to organize. They showed it at WC 2022 which is the biggest sport organization ever. 4 billion people watched it. Canelo is a well-known athlete in North America and partially known in South America. But, not in Europe and Asia. Thanks to this, he will be better known in Europe and partially in Asia.
The whole "I'm the king of America, I only fight here" thing is over. That was correct in HBO era until 2018. Not now.
Ryder --> UK
Bivol rematch --> Arab region
Plant/Benavidez winner --> Mexico
You'll die if you don't adapt the change.Last edited by Silence; 12-23-2022, 05:58 PM.Comment
