agreed.. I think people keep tuning in hoping that this time he'll be more exciting then the last time only to keep getting disappointed.
when everyone was disappointed in the fight last weekend, I told everyone what do you expect? it's mayweather after all.
baldomir, de la hoya, ricky hatton and now marquez. you can only shovel people the same **** so much until they no longer buy it.
floyd is boring.
i see what ur saying reed.. wondering if the casual fan is willing to fork out another 50 bones two months later to watch a fight like that.. i think pac and cotto will be fine just with the pinoy and rican following alone...but as for other fights...hmm
It was a definite black eye on the sport...If Mayweather couldn't sell then ,he surely wont now after that fight. They can call it what they want...but any normal fan of boxing couldn't find that fight intriguing to watch.
You should have watched Mayweather vs Baldomir. That fight alone drew 325K PPV Buys. Yet his next fight drew even more, 375K against Zab Judah. Funny because Mayweather beat down Gatti, drew 365K PPV Buys and THAT was an entertaining fight. Pretty much, what I'm saying is, you call Mayweather vs Marquez boring but that fight was ALOT more entertaining then Mayweather vs Baldomir/ DLH.
I dont think people necessarily tune in for the slugfest style of floyd mayweather... I think its more about the aura of his undefeatableness.... they want to see if this guy can beat him... who can beat him?
IMO his next fight will only be bigger and harder, and it will again sell the fans on... can THIS guy beat him? Can anyone?
And I think thats why people tune in.... not necessarily for the excitement.... or maybe... that IS the excitement.
I don't think the way the fight turned out will affect Floyd's figures next time. If 1 million people bought it, I would guess 600,000 wanted to Floyd to lose and 300,000 were neutral. Half of those 300,000 will now be haters, so that's 750,000 carried over to the next fight hoping to see him lose.
