Haymon saw Arum losing millions on Bud and wasn’t going to take a bath on a Spence fight. If the fight did business everyone gets paid but if not he was going to minimize his risk.

Bud, you need Spence real bad, as the reality Spence maybe a little overrated and that's so great for you as you will get massive credit for beating someone who maybe isn't as good as article suggests he is and isn't as unbeatable as some may think, over hyped if you will. So Spence being a little overhyped literally means moderate to quite high risk, high reward type fight. Whereas in future you will be fighting bums who are considered high risk, only becauses you won't be as good, and low reward.
So you need him on your resume already, before someone beats you to it
