Boxing fans are like victims of domestic abuse.

The sport keeps mistreating us but we can't stop ourselves from going back.

Meaning they're not even looking for any stay-busy fight while waiting. They're willing to risk wasting a minimum of six months (if they're even lucky.)
The waiting started in mid May, which was the date of his last fight and also around the time when Spence vs Crawford presumably started the negotiations, who knows?

Assuming the negotiations went smoothly and the superfight got scheduled in Nov-Dec. That's already six months of waiting. Then what about the comeback date of the winner? 3 - 4 months later? Which is only the start of the negotiations, then fight had to be scheduled who knows when, etc. etc.

You see how ridiculous it is waiting for fighters with no scheduled fight yet?

Very true. It's mind-boggling waste of time. It's not an excuse to stay inactive.

Ennis for me, has answered a whole lot of questions. Its not just the eye test, its the intangibles. His attitude, his work ethic, his quiet confidence, and the fashion in which he's getting rid of very good fighters, lets me know everything I need to know. . He's taking ppl out in a variety of ways,- chopping shots, straight right hands, body punches, hooks, uppercuts, southpaw, orthodox, u name it. His shot selection shows his ring IQ is very high indeed. He instinctively makes the right move at any given time, no matter who or what style of boxer is in front of him. He's ready for anyone and everyone out there right tf now.

Thurman wont fight anyone other than Spence.
Boots and Ortiz wont fight each other any time soon.

Boots has more options under the PBC umbrella.
Boots still refuses to join pbc so he might not get any of those fights, and he'll only have his own stubbornness to blame.

It's not useless and nonsensical, because its the reason he aint getting the fights he wants. He wants to have his cake and eat it too (wants to fight the pbc fighters without committing to a pbc contract, like pbc is supposed to do him favours for nothing in return).

I think they wanted to be ready to press the IBF mandatory is the Spence vs Crawford fight failed to happen.

If they had asked for a voluntary fight from the IBF, then they wouldn't be in a position to press their mandatory like they are now.
