Ten is way too many. The best was probably Jimmy Young, followed by Ali, though Ali got hit a lot and had an incredible chin. Of Course there was also Jack Johnson. So for a top five Ill give you these three.

I think there’s many defensive fighters over looked mainly Mike Tyson because people were fixated on his punches landed not how he was a defensive wizard to set those counter shots up , I’d honestly take Tyson by a landslide as Ali was known to take punches more then avoid them and or ride them . Johnson held an awful lot disabling an opponents offense which was legal back then where you could hold and hit . Young’s a good shout I’d agree on that .

In no order , Jones , M.Tyson , Holmes , Toney , Kevin Johnson ( crazy skills not to get hit clean at times ) Byrd , Ali (60”s ) , Mayweather , Holyfield, Dwight Qawi are also decent to great ones ,I also included fighters who can avoid getting hit clean but overall the fighter who doesn’t get hit in the pocket has superior skills .

One that stands out to me in the past 20 years is Eddie Chambers

Tyson Fury's defense is overrated. It is not at the level certain people claim.

No Idea why a poster on this thread, seems to think? Fury's performance from Wilder I, was a great defensive fight?

Fury was backed up all night and decked twice. Fury was basically knocked out in the 12 th round 'A lesser referee most likely would of waved off the fight'.

Wilder has power, but his offense lacks variation and sophistication. Even with all of these technical draw backs 'Wilder was still able to find and land on Tyson Fury'.

Fury's defense is good, but I honestly think it is overrated. Fury for me always seems a moment away from calamity.

Some great defensive fighters for me were:

Jimmy Young, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Peak Wladimir Kiltschko, Lennox Lewis, Vitali Kiltschko, peak David Haye.

Note: For me Tyson Fury has not consistently proven, that he has a all-time great defense at World & Elite level.

Fury is not proving anything by fighting Derek Chisora next, he has to showcase a elite level defense at elite level. The fact of the matter is, he has not achieved this since the Kiltschko fight etc.

A similar thread to this was made awhile back, and I mentioned Jimmy Young in that thread.

I hope not, dude got his ass beat by Gerald Washington six years ago....

His last crowning achievement was against Adamek back in 2012 in a huge robbery

Vitali Klitschko. Other than Lennox Lewis, who is an all-time great, nobody could land on the man. He was great at parrying and catching punches, but he also controlled distance with his feet exceptionally well.
