You could go back look at the last 3 years and Benevidez hasnt done **** fought 3 bums nobody heard of and a completely shot Lemieux whose prime was like 8 years ago.

Benevidez should *** off he only fought once in the last year, go beat someone decent already

Right now canelo doesn't need him, that's the reality and it's on benavidez to change that.
Benavidez has to beat proven fighters as well, and each time he does? Thrown some harassment in the direction of Alvarez.

That is how you challenge certain fighters in the professional ranks. It is also how you build match ups.

Maybe in 2-3 at a maxim more fights time. This match up between Benavidez & Alvarez will be at fight you cannot pass up.

I am unsure what weight this fight will happen at, 168 or 175 etc.

Benavidez is a high risk, low reward fight. People aren't going to put Nelo above SRR for beating today's benevidez. But Benavidez beats some killers first he then becomes high risk, high reward type fight.

It will be another signature fight for Alvarez, that maybe he can win.

Alvarez has lost 2 signature fights. Against Mayweather Junior & Bivol.

But he has won against Golovkin etc.

He keeps fighting bums, go look at his record. and he only fought once against 8 years past prime Lemieux in the last year. He is a diva and making all these demands.

Clearly conelo doesn't want to fight the benavidez giant at 15 he was 250lbs he's a weight drainer he should be fighting at light heavyweight or heavyweight so he's taking advantage of conelo who started his welterweight career now they are the same weight but benavidez lost the belt himself on the scale

Canelo is much closer to SRR than people think. Some fighters boost their opponents' legacy from boogeyman department. Benavidez is that type fighter. Today or tomorrow, he'd boost Canelo's legacy.

What if Plant beats Benavidez? What next? Does Canelo still fight Benavidez or does he go after Plant?
Interesting question. Canelo might reason that since he defeated Plant and Plant defeated Benavidez that Benavidez is very beatable by him. In that case he might be agreeable to fight Benavidez but prohibited as Plant is his Mandatory. A Mexican standoff would ensue unless Plant was willing to step aside ($$$$$).

He doesn’t even have a win over a top fighter I’m confused as to why canelo needs to fight him to “make history”?if Bumavidez keeps racking up wins and gets a couple of good wins under his belt I’m sure this fight could be considered. He keeps saying canelo doesn’t want to fight other Mexicans. David bumavidez jr is an AMERICAN. He was born in AMERICA. He has Mexican heritage but he’s not a Mexican citizen he’s not a Mexican resident. Canelo don’t care to consider fighting him because HE BRINGS NOTHING TO THE TABLE. Beating bumavidez brings nothing to canelo. No belt Even like no one will say “you beat a great fighter” because he hasn’t done $h@t in the sport. Pathetic of sr tbh. Since Rayo got knocked out he’s been tooting the “canelo is ducking my son” horn extra hard
Don’t make it so obvious that you’re scared to watch Canelo get beat down by Benavidez. You know that he’s the biggest threat at 168 and Canelo knows this also. Canelo is walking around with a belt that was really Benavidez title despite never beating him, and only petitioned for that title 3 days after Benavidez got stripped. If Canelo could fight Yidilgrim as a mandatory to keep his Wbc title, why can’t he fight Benavidez after Benavidez becomes a mandatory following him beating Plant?

Canelo is not close to Sugar Ray Robinson. He’s not close to Sugar Ray Leonard either. He’s more in line with Sugar Shane Mosley career wise but probably won’t be as dangerous in his late 30s as Shane still was when he fought a prime Cotto to a near even fight and smashed Margarito.
