Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson-Isaac Cruz Lightweight Eliminator Ordered By WBC At Its Convention

Opposing business interests could prevent Shakur Stevenson and Isaac Cruz from fighting at any point in the near future. Those two lightweight contenders are represented by competing promoters and appear on different networks, but that didn't stop the WBC from ordering a final elimination match Wednesday between Stevenson and Cruz. Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the WBC, announced during the sanctioning organization's convention in Acapulco, Mexico that Stevenson and Cruz must fight next if they want a chance to become the WBC's mandatory challenger in the 135-pound division.

I’d guess Haymon sees Cruz as an expendable, so I think it happens.

Stevenson doesn’t really need to fight in an eliminator does he? Doesn’t he become WBO mandatory being a champion moving up? Like Usyk at HW.

Stevenson was stripped of the titles for missing weight on the scale. Without having the titles, he's now in this position.

If that were the case,he would've allowed him to accept the Ryan offer. Cruz is crucial part of Tanks run at 135 as his only credible opponent. This fight isn't happening, period.

Im sure youre correct but maybe this works even better for him. Wbo mando and wbc mando. No escaping for Haney unless he gives up the belts

Was Ryan Garcia a final eliminator?
