Just how good is Bivol really?

And when a guy is in bad shape it doesn't matter if he had a 100 wins against elites, that night he was in terrible shape.
Thats right he has only 20 wins total with 1, just 1 elite guy that was out of his division, not in good shape with no game plan, the worst version of Canelo to box, and you are in raptures.Comment

Man, you are just delusional.

Canelo had already won the title at 175 before. And 99% of you casuals picked him to beat Bivol.
I don`t buy your excuses.Comment

These Canelo fans are hilarious. If he gets popped for a banned substance, it's the meat he ate and thus a fluke. When he wins, he's the best fighter in the world! But when he loses, there was something wrong with him, because there's just NO WAY anyone could beat a healthy Canelo.

I reckon I could 'ave 'imOne thing I want to quickly say before I get into this is I think people still don't really know or understand how dominant he has been for how long I mean you can literally go back yrs and yrs into his amateur career and see the same dominance we are seeing against these top LHWs in the pros and that is at a very high level. A lot of his losses and the more recent back in the amateurs were actually via walkover.
I've always massively rated Bivol and sworn blind hes the best of the bunch and he was the best of the bunch Beterbiev, Gzovdyk etc
I've sort of half studied him because its not obvious in your face, insane Rigo esque reflexes. Its quite the precision counterpunching of a Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Everything he does, his movements are all subtle. He's not going to make you miss by a metre and look out the ring showboating, he makes you fall short or miss by a hair then comes back in combination. His eyes, his focus, his understanding of distance and positioning is second to none.
He does everything near damn perfect but I always wonder with him is there another gear, are there more wrinkles to his game?
A lot of the time its best kept simple in boxing, being a minimalist. But I just wonder how good is he on the inside? Does he have a clinch game? Does he have a body attack?
Does he have an uppercut? Is it too late to add them at this stage?
Sometimes I just feel he is a touch one dimensional, a little one paced.
As a fan I'd like to see someone push him, take him out of that comfort zone.
He is excellent, he maybe so good that he completely dominates the division but he is so dominant and just seems to cruise its like are we or will we really ever get to find out just how great he is? I mean if he beats Beterbiev the same way he has beaten everyone else then what?Comment

He has good athletic attributes combined with World class fundamentals skills.
But? Truly great fighters, can do things beyond the fundamentals of boxing.
I don't rate Bivol at this level. Within today's era of boxing he is a solid fighter etc.
He has not beaten any great fighters at Light Heavyweight, many past great fighters would of beaten Alvarez more brutally than Bivol did 'At Super Middle Weight & Light Heavyweight'.

No, in all seriousness, I think his primary strength is that he doesn't get greedy, i.e., doesn't start throwing more than he calculates he should, or stay in the pocket longer than necessary.
Probably a bit risk averse, but this mentality will see him unify, IMO.
Doesn't really matter if anyone think Berbetiev's better, more exciting, or more skilled; all that matters is he's gonna have to get on his bike if he wants to end him, and I think Bivol will stay just out of reach.

To be honest, I doubt Bivol in his prime will ever look like a piece of. sh.it fighting old man in his own division like Canelo looked fighting 40 old useless GGG.Comment
