Does Bivol Already Have a Better Resume Than GGG?

People are discrediting his win over Canelo. Let's be honest, he beat peak Canelo. The Canelo he beat knocked out Kovalev(LHW champ) and unified the SMW belts. That Canelo would KO every other version of canelo.

    Anyway, discuss......

Unifying a trash division isn't impressive. Beating a last minute un prepared average smith isnt impressive. Nor beating bjs who accomplished nothing at the weight and pretty much just ate himself out of MW.

Not to mention he beat Kovalev who only had one month to rest after a brutal fight with yarde.

In my book GGG also beat Canelo. In the first fight.

But yes, Bivol has official win over Canelo and he also beat N.3. in his division.

          Moldavian/Korean > Russian/Korean

getting the decision over Alvarez boosted Bivol’s career profile tremendously

          He can become a king

ggg will largely be remembered as Alvarez rival rather than a main character

I would say Golovkin still has a better resume because he beat Canelo twice, while Bivol did so once. It's the Canelo win that catapulted him into the discussion. Plus, Bivol has gone the distance with domestic level fighters while Golovkin demolished them.

Bivol has the clearer win over Alvarez though

I judge boxers and puncher’s by different standards when it comes to how dominant their victories are

boxer’s job is to get a wide decision

              puncher’s job is to ko

not everyone can score knockouts left & right like Mike Tyson

The first win over Canelo by Golovkin seemed pretty clear to me, about on par with Bivol. I think the difference was that Canelo was on his bike almost the whole fight with Golovkin, and it's hard to hit someone who's running away from you. At least Canelo stood and fought Bivol in their fight. Then when Canelo fought Golovkin the second time, he had the whole clenbuterol scandal, he had lumps on his abdominal muscles at the weight-in, showing clear injection site reactions, and he looked physically different in the ring with Golovkin. All of a sudden Canelo became the terminator out of nowhere. I think we all know what was going on.

With clear wins over Canelo, Smith, and Ramirez, Bivols resume is on par with gggs. Gggs wins over Canelo (phuck those crooked scorecards), Jacobs and a large amount of second rate contenders is also on par.
