Comments Thread For: Hearn Believes Benavidez Could Entice Canelo With a Statement Win Over Plant

Super middleweight David Benavidez has long called for a bout with top fighters, such as Eddie Hearn's client Canelo Alvarez, as well as 160-pound middleweight champion Jermall Charlo and fellow 168-pound contender Caleb Plant.

How did James Kirkland entice Canelo? How did Amir Khan entice Canelo? How did Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. entice Canelo?

When was the last time Canelo fought anyone coming off of a statement win? On the contrary, nearly every opponent he has picked for the past several years have come off of either an underwhelming performance or a performance where they looked extremely vulnerable. If Benavidez beats Plant in dominant fashion, it will make the fans more likely to demand the fight but probably make Canelo less likely to take the fight.

Good to see these contenders finally doing something to earn their shot at Canelo rather than waiting out that pay day. I like this fight Benavidez hasn't done a lot yet but wants it this fight is legit.

All three: because they drew money. Especially Chavez Jr. for some reason.

Hearn's ***ing mouth should stop talking fighters into fights their arses can't handle, whether it's Canelo v Benavidez or AJ v Wilder.
And then he's gonna be performing all the acrobatics to get them out of those fights.

Good questions that I doubt RattleSnake Hearn will answer

I give it to Hearn, he can lie like the best of the grifters. Fielding and Yildirim must have really done a lot to entice Cinnabon. But beyond that, I'm glad that Benavidez and Plant are going to fight because at this point, Ginger will run out of options and excuses in the public eye if he continues to avoid Benavidez, that is, unless Plant wins. I can only hope that Andrade can find a credible top contender in the division to do the same. I fully expect Benavidez to walk down Plant, make him gas, and destroy him in the later rounds, but we'll see what Cinnabon says afterwards. My expectations are that he won't be in the mood to talk and he'll use his "spin doctor," Hearns, to tell us all why he's going to fight someone who looked like shxt, but won, their last fight.

Fielding had a belt, Yildirim was a mandatory.

While I find young Edward one of the most detestable people ever in the history of boxing he isn’t exactly wrong here. Canelo has made a complete and utter fool of himself by losing handily and not seeking immediate rematch. Both times wilder and Joshua lost they sought immediate revenge. Both lost, but both had the cajones to go back into the fire, both after being stopped. Both showed the true hearts of champions in doing so. Not only did the diva not want a rematch but he chose someone clearly past it that he had already beaten in a rebound fight. If that were not enough, he then claimed he won’t fight Mexicans, something no fighter of his apparent calibre has said. No fighter ever has refused to fight members of his own ethnic group or nationality. Hell both Holmes and Page were willing to take on Coetzee, an Afrikaner, during apartheid era South Africa. Of Benavidez can impressively beat plant, Canelo will look like the biggest coward ever if he doesnt fight him. Of course hearn won’t put it that way but Hearn knows the pressure will be great. Already the boxing establishment has taken their protective hands off Canelo as much as they had prior. His diva status isn’t what he used to be. He’s Cindi Lauper now, his Shirley Bassey days are over
