I've been watching Jake closely, closer than most people due to several factors. The improvements I see are
Gas Tank
I think his gas is getting better, not drastically better, but better nonetheless. For someone jumping into the fire like Jake has, his tank is pretty good for a guy his size. Granted it's against bummers and mma twats. This can only get better over time, but he has to push to the next level to get there.
Combination Punching
I saw a few combinations in there you don't normally see and he looked pretty good doing it. Small improvement, but still an improvement.
Footwork
I fought orthodox and I focused heavily on moving laterally to the right which is very uncommon due to it being harder to do. You have to have supreme footwork to make it fluid. The positive is you're on the weak side of another orthodox fighter and well out of the pocket. I saw Jake doing this a few times and he did it well with a combination in one of them. Something like straight right to the body, left hook to the body and a right hand over the top all moving to the right. He's got a long way to go before he's fluid, but I can see his trainers through his work and they're going a great job.
Defense
He's got a decent defense when he's got it turned on. I notice they've taught him that once the other guy starts throwing to get right into a defense and not get caught in the middle of something. Some of you might think this is basic, but it's really not.
Timing
His timing is improving, look at the knockdown and how he timed those puches. Also, he didn't fall for SIlva's pyrotechnics and threw punches at the right time to stop the theatrics.
One thing he needs to work on is never limping that wrist. I saw some stills of him landing a limp wristed shot. Very strange, not sure if his trainers are doing this as there is a snapping technique with the wrist, but I could have sworn it was a martial arts thing to do. I would never do that because everything moves fo fast when you're in combat.
If any of his trainers see this post, you guys are doing a great job.
