Haney would have big problems with Ortiz

I wouldn't mind seeing more of him. Hey man, look at Algieri, no-name nobody opponent for Pacquiao and now everybody knows him. I hope bigger days are out there for him, boxing is a rough lifestyle.Comment

yep. That's how it works. I called it. I said months ago that I don't want to hear excuses about him "getting old". now look at them. This is a common theme with Lomachenkos opponents.
He regularly looks ordinary and rather than admitting they overrated him its nothing but excuses for him and claims of his opponents would give Tank/Haney/Garcia etc fits and they are underrated etc then they go out there and get starched.
But if Tank, Haney, Garcia etc struggled vs such mediocre opposition at all let alone on a regular basis we'd never hear the end of it and how they was apparently exposed etc
He suddenly didn't look so hot when he stopped fighting small, static opposition that just plodded forward and come to a stand still and let him create angles.
Soon as he started fighting bigger guys with a little savvy and athleticism suddenly he didn't look so hot. TR matchmaking at its finest.Comment

I don`t see how is Loma hype job.
The man just found his limits. So canelo is also a hype job because he can beat only a faded guy like Kovalev at 175?Comment

Some fans pump up fighters too much. Others try to discredit good fighters. The rest of us try to take a balanced view, based on what we see, not a preference or race or jealousy or whatever.
He def found his limit. And i do think he doesnt look nearly as good at 135. Looking back, the whole first 6 rounds of the fight vs lopez, where he did almost nothing, its still my most frustrating boxing memory, and i think it showed he was overmatched here.
And i def think he was not at 100 the other night. It was obvious. But was it age or from living in a war zone? And was it temporary, or will he get it back? Those are the real questions.
For the record, I like the Matrix. He has a great style, and I see younger boxers copy some of his moves in their fights these days. And I always root for Ukraine. But I think Loma's star may be fading. I hope I'm wrong, but he has 2 losses already and too few pro fights.
135 is a big boys club, full of welterweights who dry out to make weight. Any natural featherweight is asking for trouble there. But i think we'll see for sure in the next fight.Comment

Haha no. Stop making excuses for Loma. After GGG struggled with Jacobs and Brook and all these guys, people kept saying "Canelo would have too, GGG will still knock out Canelo. Brook was actually a natural middleweight size, GGG will still knock out Canelo," and look what happened. These guys lie down for the money I think. Remember Lomachenko has the same manager as Kovalev, and remember Canelo vs Kovalev fake fight. Just saying.Comment

Also Lomachenko further proves he is a fraud by the fact someone Tank Davis stopped at 130 pounds is willing to go to 140 to fight Teofimo, but Lomachenko wont go up 5 little pounds to avenge his loss.Comment

i remember seeing him on the Tyson/RJJ undercard - I thought he looked pretty good/fast but didn't really get much from it. I didn't realize it was the same guy until the weigh-in. I thought it was great work for both guys, glad to see his stock rise a bitComment

You don't judge P4P by the performances in the highest weight class, you judge it overall. You dont say "He's P4P at 130 but not at 135." That doesnt make sense. If you have Floyd P4P at 147, but he goes to 175 and gets knocked out 5 times in a row, do you say "He's not P4P"? No he's still just as good as before, so if he was the best P4P before he's still the best P4P now, he's just losing because he's fighting bigger guys than anyone else. Its because of the hype. They don't buy into it but they want to believe.
When fans start hearing a certain fighter is P4P number 1 and such they expect them or should expect them to beat the likes of Linares, Luke Campbell, Ortiz, Pedraza comfortably if not in great fashion not looking so and so against them all.
At 130 I feel is where he belongs, at 135 I feel he is quite ordinary and not really looked like a top p4p fighter at all at the weight. I wouldn't favour him over any of the young bucks.
A few yrs back he might have had a distinct skill advantage over most but I just feel it'd go out of the window and someone like Tank or Garcia can absorb everything Loma would throw their way far better than vice versa and that was then nevermind now. They would hurt him bad and I think someone like Haney, it'd be sad viewing. It'd almost be like Holmes beating upon Ali. For me I don't think a 35yr old lightweight turns back the clock or looks sharper than vs Ortiz, Haney would make him look and feel even older and more worn.
With that said, going from 130 to 135 is only 5 pounds, so if Loma can't beat these guys at 135 then he was probably never any good at 130 or 126, just smoke and mirrors with promoters and maybe paid off opponents. Maybe people laid down to build him up so that he could lay down for the guys at 135. There is no money at 126 or 130 so maybe building up Loma was the most $ that could be made at thsoe weights, but now at 135 with these young guys draining down, they will eventually move to 147 and generate more money there, so now Loma is the guy to lay down and help out the money with those guys. Im just guessing how it goes down behind the curtain of this dirty business.Comment
