David Morrell has been overhyped because of false claims that he has a 131-2 amateur record. Parts of his amateur records are available on boxrec, it’s excellent but he has more than 2 losses and he was never an olympian. There are no reasons he should be getting world title shots this early.

I will say this, re Morrell, Benavidez, Andrade, pretty much everyone at 168: you can’t wait around on Canelo. Canelo is the shot caller with damn near 50 pro fights. You losers have to move on and start fighting each other.

Morrell should get rid of his trainer Ronnie Shields ASAP. Look at what he did to Jermall Charlo's morale and career. The guy is not suited for prime time fights. He may be enough for basic training, but not for big fights.

Erislandy Lara already left Shields and he's been talking about how he learned a lot from his new trainer like being able to fight on the inside.

I like Morrell as a fighter but he already damaged his reputation by calling out Benavidez and then making excuses not to face him a few months ago.

That's a fact, now it look's like he's pulling the same old stunt, except that Benavidez' manager has stated that they might have that fight in May 2023.
I hope that's true, because a fight between both of those fighters would be a pitched battle of unbeaten young fighter's.

He clearly wants the fight but someone on his team does not. There is a disconnect there so they need to have a conversation and get a green light because Morrell is better than a number of Benavidez' recent opponents.
