I almost began to think of him as a serious BOXER. But he's just making money as a sideshow so nope.

Its true Jake has been boxing 5 years now. he keeps saying he only has 2 years experience. There are plenty of guys who won gold medals and pro championships in that same time frame. Jake is now calling out yet another naturally smaller, older, brain damaged MMA fighter. he hasnt even fought an actual boxer yet but keeps playing the I just started boxing card.

You remember that hail Mary and conveniently forgot Mercers 3 other forays into MMA and kickboxing, along with most other times a boxer has gone into the sport.

You didnt answer the question though, would you have this same energy if some celebrity was given high level MMA training for 5 years, allowed to juice, and then every few months the UFC booked a high profile main event with him vs an old washed up boxer? would you consider boxing to be a "joke" when the boxers kept losing or would you view it as an exploitative situation and want the guy to step into a boxing ring? how did you feel about Couture/Toney? annoying wasnt it?

And yeah, Nate IS old and washed up, and wasnt all that great to begin with. I think Jake would have probably beat him in a boxing match in his prime anyway so whatever. At the end of the day, Jake has been training in boxing, just boxing, for five years now. Whoopdie ****ing doo he can box a 47 year old and two wrestlers after five years of boxing training. Ask yourself why hes not fighting them in MMA instead and why hes not boxing boxers.

I dont think they do in general but probably initially did with Jake, although i'd assume most are wising up now. They need to realise that by MMA standards his hands are actually pretty dangerous, and if hes looking for a fight with you its because he is confident in you being another old star that he can take advantage of. He isnt going to be going after someone like Alex Pereira for instance but he will sure as hell wanna get Nate in the ring.

It'd be interesting to see exactly how much these guys are getting paid for Jake to **** on their legacy. Its sad to see.

There’s no shame in losing a boxing fight. I don’t think McGregor tarnished his legacy by losing to Floyd.
Paul is building himself just like how pro boxer start out. De La Hoya was a big name after his gold medal at the Barcelona game but nobody can recall the first 10 of his opponents. I wonder how their career played out. They were journeymen paid to get beat by Oscar.
The only difference with Paul is that he happens to be a big celebrity already and is fighting MMA guys. I mean he could fight nondescript boxing guys but there is no money in those fights. Look at amount of tickets sold for the Silva fight.

                  Paul’s Strategy:
The smart part - he is making great money, getting rounds, brining eyeballs to boxing, winning, and most importantly bucking the system. He doesn’t care about us (the folks that truly LOVE the sweet science) because we are the minority.
The drawback - he is getting rounds in with guys that are not true boxers. He better be sparring real boxers or he will be developing habits that will ultimately result in him getting embarrassed in the ring when he finally gets in there with someone who is good.
My prediction - if and when he fights someone good and loses, he will spin it so perfectly that it will actually boost him.
We may hate it but he is no dummy. He sure looks like one. The “crazy face” is quite embarrassing to see.

Jake Paul is proving what we knew all along, the hand skills of MMA fighters are absolutely primitive.
