Unlike the rest of boxing world, Freddie Roach was hardly amazed by the unanimous decision pounded out by Floyd Mayweather Jr. over former Manny Pacquiao victim Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas over the weekend.

The American trainer said he expected what would happen, compelling him not to bother watching the bout on pay-per-view.
“He (Mayweather) beat the best lightweight in the world," Roach said, obviously referring to the big size discrepancy that separated both Mayweather Jr. and Marquez on fight night.
Mayweather failed to meet the catchweight of 144 pounds, coming two pounds over during the official weigh-in, costing him about $600,000 in penalty. Meanwhile, Marquez, whose last fight was at lightweight (135 pounds) tipped in at 142.
During the fight, Marquez weighed 148 pounds, while Mayweather refused to tip the scale. In the post-fight interview, the unbeaten American admitted he was around 145 pounds when he climbed the ring.
Mayweather Jr. overpowered the smaller, lighter Marquez to complete a unanimous decision victory against the former Mexican champion Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) to remain undefeated in his return to active competition after a 21-month long absence.
Pacquiao, who personally watched the fight between Mayweather Jr. and Marquez, said the welterweight showdown was a mismatch and impressive.
The 30-year old Filipino boxing icon considered the 12-round fight a “mismatch" as the bigger and quicker Mayweather Jr. pounded a one-sided unanimous decision against the 36-year old Mexican.
Pacquiao added that Mayweather Jr. remains impressive inside the ring adding that the unbeaten welterweight champion still packs the same skills and talent when he defeated Ricky Hatton on December 8, 2007. – GMANews.TV
