The Russells always seem to lose big fights. All talk and no action , especially big Gary.

I'm sure if Rodriguez was knocked down and face planted and staggered around while trying to get up the ref would have called it off immediately. Instead he insisted for the promotional company's fighter to get his minute to recover.

The Russell brothers are good enough to be contenders, but not long time reigning champions. That undefeated Russell that has all of his victories by KO (16 and 0) is also not good. He was given his last victory by a dirty ref and sanctioning body that's intent on marketing him as a devastating unbeatable knockout specialist.

I'm on the fence. Watching it real time and seeing him tumble in his first attempt to get up then him finally getting up and still looking wobbly, I wouldn't have objected if the ref stopped the fight. But after the count and the break between rounds Russell did seem to gather himself.

That fight should never have been allowed to continue after Russell was knocked senseless. That ref should be canned along with the ringside doctor. Letting that beating continue was just begging for permanent injury or worse. I saw Mancini/Kim and up until the end there was no obvious warning approaching this level that could have been acted upon. This was an obvious warning, a gift and it was ignored. Ridiculous. Dangerous. Just trying to save an "0" fighter's marketability. Thank God it didn't end up a whole lot worse. Yeah, I know a lot of people don't agree, but this young man was getting hammered. Manny's power and speed were too much, and I think he actually let up at certain times in the fight because he was worried about Russel, and thank him for that.
