I still think Benavidez drowns Plant with his volume and pressure at some point.

Plant got a good knockout win but Dirrell is an older fighter who has looked very beatable in his previous few outings. So while a decent win at this point it still is a big difference from facing Benavidez.

Also physically Benavidez is much bigger in frame than Plant.

He is one dimensional and still catching too much punches

He was 20 years old. He has the same skillset with very few new wrinkles to his game, but his skills are way more polished compared to those in 2017.

Canelo was also 20 years old when he was rocked by Jose Cotto but ever since then he has improved and defeated way more accomplished fighters like his brother Miguel Cotto.

As good as Plant looked last night, I don't know if he could withstand the onslaught of Benevidez. I always thought Plant was an excellent fighter. He's slick, very fast, really good feet and very skilled. I was a bit surprised by his power last night, though. I'm sure he can crack hard enough but the way he knocked Dirrell unconscious was surprising. He seemed to fight with more fire against Dirrell. In the past he always seemed happy outboxing and stinging his opponents. It's possible that Plant could outbox Benevidez or even hurt Benevidez but that will be a big task. Benevidez could be a decent size Cruiserweight and he can absorb most of these smaller guy's punches because he's naturally so big. I'm just not totally confident in Plant's ability to withstand a lot of punishment from a constantly coming forward punisher like Benevidez. But Plant is actually way more skilled and sharper than Benevidez as a boxer. It would take a few rounds for Benevidez to catch up with Plant but what happens when Plant gets tired from a grueling, brutal fight? On the other hand, Plant might be able to keep Benevidez off balance for most of the fight and win a decision with his fast hands and feet. This is a really interesting fight ! I want to see it.

The prediction is Plant would avoid it like a plague. Forget this fight and move on with other options. There are lots out there. Most of them are in the same house.

All of his wins are either by ko or decision. The guy can punch, but doesn't sit on them often enough.
