both guys gotta have comeback fight firstThe name Juan Manuel Marquez is thinking about at the moment is Ricky Hatton. Marquez gave an honest effort during last Saturday's decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas. Marquez is the current holder of the WBO/WBA lightweight titles. He would like to drop down to 140-pounds and land a fight with Hatton. [details]Comment

I would love to see Hatton win this one. It would be a truly great victory to end his career on. Both fighters have taken a lot of punishment and are past their best, but they both still have that one great fight left in them. Considering they have both lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao, this fight makes a lot of sense, and would give each fighter a chance at redemption. However, I'm afraid the loser would have to call it quits. This is a high excitement, high risk, but high reward fight. Certainly better than Hatton-Diaz, or Marquez-Katsidis.Comment

Ricky looks as done as a fighter can be IMO. He is now basically a semi-skilled brawler with no chin - that is not the best possible mix of attributes to have.Comment

I think the tag semi-skilled brawler is very harsh. Hatton was a two-weight world champion, and ruled light welterweight for 5 years. He is certainly better than a lot of people give him credit for. He still has fast hands, great feet, and good power. Yes his punch resistance has deteriorated since he fought Mayweather, but we must remember that Marquez doesn't look like he carries his power past 140. He certainly can't **** like Pacquiao, or Mayweather at the weight. I have a feeling that if Hatton's chin can hold up, then we will have a very exciting fight indeed. Neither boxer are defensive masters, and both are very aggressive. It will be similar too Diaz vs Marquez except Hatton has the power to hurt Marquez, and won't fold halfway through the fight. His stamina has always been excellent.
Saying that, Marquez could very well put Hatton away early if his his power is there at 140, and Hatton's chin is as bad as everyone fears. But I have a hunch that Hatton vs Marquez is FOTY material, and a potential classic.Comment
