Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: Canelo 'Doesn't Have Lot Of Prime Names On His Resume'

Andre Ward isn't ready to go completely out of his way to call Canelo Alvarez a world-beater. The four-division champion Alvarez's stock took a hit earlier in May when he lost to undefeated light heavyweight titleholder Dmitry Bivol via unanimous decision. He bounced back in September to beat archrival Gennadiy Golovkin via unanimous decision in their trilogy bout.

Sorry but Benavidez would prob. lose by KO to Canelo. I would back the underdog but Canelo has massive experience, defense, KO power, etc. Make the fight!

I mean, this is common knowledge to anyone who follows boxing. The only ones who object are casuals or the sensitive fan boys who are detached from reality. The biggest names that Canelo has faced were all 35 and older when he faced them. Mosley, Mayweather, Cotto, Ggg 3x, Kovalev. Age isn’t something that can be minimized, just wait and see what canelo looks like in 3 years at 35, if he’s even still fighting by that age.

Ward is not off but a bit harsh here.
His record isn't mind blowing either.

The thing is Canelo beat some prime name like Lara, GGG but by very very close decision...

Canelo has huge balls to fight a Guy like Bivol, Bivol is good and a giant next to him.

Would Ward fight a cruiserweight on Bivol's level? Maybe but he never did.

Seems to me like he has a lot more prime names than Ward, whose short career ended with a gift decision over Kovalev, followed by the rematch he won by low blows.

nANDRElone coWARD is a jealous loser who quit because VADA became prevalent and he never accomplished anything...now he regrets it and he's jealous that Canelo did everything coWARD wishes he himself had done and Canelo gets the props coWARD wants. If coWARD wasn't a commentator, he wouldn't even get recognized at Boxing matches.

Ward has always been a Canelo hater. After Canelo became a free agent and has taken full control of his career, he’s faced nothing but champions. Not his fault benavidez lost his title for not being disciplined. If Benavidez still had the title when Canelo was sweeping 168, no doubt they would’ve fought. People forget the real boogy man at 168 was calumn smith not Benavidez. We all know Canelo demolished him. Once Canelo beats benavidez, the new boogy man will be Morrell and Canelo will “duck” him too lol.
