Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: Joe Joyce Propelled Himself Into The Elite at Heavyweight

ON SATURDAY NIGHT in Manchester, Joe Joyce propelled himself into the elite band of active heavyweights. It is a group of three that also currently features Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, while I am hopeful that Daniel Dubois will make it a fab four before too long.

Skip the Ruiz fight and offer Wilder money he can't turn down to come to the UK. People want to see that match. Either Joyce beats up Wilder or Wilder clips Joyce so hard he breaks his hand again and the weight of Joyce collapses the ring.

If I’m Joyce’s manager, Wilder is the ONLY fight I’m not keen on making at Heavy. Wait until he fights all the other top guys then take on Wilder. His style is the only one who is a potentially disastrous mix for Joe.

That’s just not going to happen with Warren calling the shots for Joyce . Warren will offer the minimum to Wilder ,he’s way out of Franks league with the money he would demand ,just look at the Joshua history .

I'm surprised he's not calling him an elite prospect.

Joyce is rated no1. Nobody stops parker. Where he is ranked though might be another topic, maybe 3 or 4?

That would be an awesome matchup! We'll see just how well Joyce's chin would hold up against one of the hardest punchers in boxing's heavyweight history. His chin would give Wilder an open invitation to hit it.

Gotta say I like warren’s articles. Of course he loves his own fighters and talks them up, even when losing. but he seems honest in assessments. I don’t know if other promoters doing articles like this

Joyce's KO win over the previously unstopped Joseph Parker, definitely made me stand up and take notice. However, stating that Joe is now among the elite is premature. Warren said himself that Parker is a top contender. Beating a top contender makes Joyce a top contender, not an elite. To be considered elite, he must defeat an elite fighter like Fury or Usyk.

yeh it's all subjective but was wilder elite when he not beat anyone of note? Josh only beat a wlad who was 40 years old. So Josh and fury elite status is walking thin line.
