That came out of Morrell's own mouth, to then all of a sudden say "it's not dependent on me if we fight". That is the very definition of clout chasing. I don't care if his team talked him out of it. Who was going to pull Loma back when he and his team wanted to sign with a promoter who would get him a world title fight in his first fight? Huh? Arum said if he signed with him he'd be able to get him a title fight in his second go round as he needed to be in the top 15 of the rankings to get a champion to give him a voluntary. If Arum disagreed with getting Loma a title fight quickly, Loma and his team wouldn't sign with him. They'd go elsewhere.

Everyone in Teo's team wanted the Loma fight. Even his promoter in Arum. They were all on the same page. Teo had 16 fights compared to Morrell's 7. There's a big difference there. I'm not even saying Morrell should wait until he has that number of fights. But he does need more experience.

Canelo had 43 fights and was a unified champion when taking on Mayweather you pleb. Yet you think that's the same as having only 7 fights for Morrell?

I don't doubt that Morrell wants it. But i also don't doubt that his team view it as rushing into something they shouldn't with so little experience. Bringing sense to the situation won out.
