Shields is entrenched in a system where having undefeated record is the be all and end all of boxing. Thus, taking tough fights is of no value, instead of seeing them as opportunity to test one's self win or lose and, like in driving, gain some driving maneuvers. It's not even like Benavidez is some veteran or some very experienced fighter. Why would Shields even assume Morrell loses the fight?
