Who'd win if Eubank and Jones had met at 168 in, say, 1994-95? Eubank was no longer in his prime after the two Steve Collins fights, which took a lot out of him I believe. But before that he could give any 168 pounder a hard fight. Even past his prime he did get outboxed by young Calzaghe, but still gave him a physically tough fight.
Eubank vs Jones at 168?

I believe Eubank wasn't in his prime even before the Collins fights. I think after the Watson II fight, Eubank really wasn't the same, didn't have the same edge in and out of the ring and the killer instinct wasn't there anymore. I also believe though at any point in there careers Jones would have beat Eubank. Jones was just too fast, too strong, and too quick especially with his counter combos. Even had they met in '92, I still see Jones winning by UD or even a late stoppage. In Eubank's autobiography, he even stated he was never to keen on fighting Jones, as Jones was the type of fighter that had a high probablility of ending a career. -
I believe they both had respect for each other, and rightly so, because it would have been a tough fight for both of them. Eubank was excellent in his prime, but I'm not sure he would have been able to deal with Jones' speed. Would loved to have seen a fight between these two.

Eubank had greater range of motion and flexibility, so maybe it wouldn't be a case of who drew who more. But then Jones countered in combos, doubling and trebling those hooks. He wouldn't want to stand on in front of Eubank, however, with Eubank's untelegraphed uppercut.
Difficult to say. I like the way Eubank would change angles of attack around the ring and go in low making himself a small target. But Jones was so so fast, wasn't he? His reflexes were on another planet.
Every round would be close but Jones would potentially take them all.Last edited by coghaugen; 09-22-2009, 12:16 PM.Comment

Eubank always had the speed and reflex advantage over his opponent, but in this case he wouldn't have. So yeah maybe Jones could have jumped in and out all night and won.
Plus Eubank was no longer cat-like by the time '94 was on the scene. He wasn't cat-like in the Benn rematch.Comment

I believe that Jones would have won, but I also believe that had they met at that time,Eubank would have given him more trouble than any fighter he has ever fought.Comment
