What did he change during the fight when he had his opponent hurt and tired? NOTHING.
When did he show killer instinct? NEVER.
Yes he is amazing. Yes he will give everyone trouble and has the ability to potentially win every fight against everyone on the cards, but he will never achieve the status that he says he wants to when we watch high level sparring matches.
I enjoy watching anyone at this level, but good luck getting the masses to enjoy that.
I have to wonder how much protecting the zero plays into the fact that he never turns into the killer mode later on in fights.

Whoever’s doing their scoring has had some terrible scoring these past few months. Stevenson though outweighed Robson by at least 20-30 lbs, and still didn’t look that good against a c class fighter.
        Just stop it lol

It’s true. They tried to to sell tgings that aren’t there. If Canelo did what Shakur did, miss weight, and not ko a guy like Canciao, all the stevenson fans would talk ****. Loma did better against rigo and didn’t get the praise shakur is getting.

Time will tell. I don’t think shakur wins a title again.

Stevenson is one of the best out there. Can't wait to see him against Devon Haney and Tank Davis

Canelo made up his own weightclass for damn near 2 years. Rigo was going up to a weight everyone knew he had no business at to fight one of the best fighters in the world at his weight. In other words, false equivalencies.

He missed weight and owned it, got stripped, gave up $150,000 to his opponent, dominated the fight, and will now move up to a weight he can actually make safely. What am I missing?

What, the ability to NOT be able to stop a guy that you had in a world of trouble? Shakur was getting hit cleanly in rounds 8 and 9 but Conceicao was already spent.

Tank and Ryan would’ve finished Conceicao under those conditions.

                  Stop it.

he missed weight to fight a nobody. Stevenson was huge in there. The guy will not win another title at a heavier weight class. Mark my word.

Excellent post and I do agree with you but I am biased towards Shakur. I have followed his career from the beginning and attended a few of his fights. Boxing is called "the sweet science" and Stevenson is the epitome of that but knockouts and excitement are what sells. Can he beat most if not all of the top 135 pounders? Probably but will they be considered "barnburners"? NO!
