    The New, Older, Slower Canelo?

The last few days, I've been watching some of their old fights. And Golovkin is not the same fighter he was six years ago. That goes without saying. However, what no one is talking about is that Canelo has slowed down. If you look at his last fight with Golovkin, his counters were lighting fast. It was that speed that gave Golovkin problems because he had to time Alvarez for his own lack of speed. Not that he's slow, just not as fast as Canelo. That was one of the biggest issues Golovkin faced.

Now, however, Canelo's counters are no longer lightening fast. He really has slowed down. That speed he had from the lower weights has vanished from his campaigning in the higher weight classes. He's no longer a super welterweight fighting at middleweight. He's now officially a super middleweight. Meanwhile, Golovkin is carrying that speed he had at middleweight, albeit slower. This means that no one is going to have the speed advantage over the other. And if that's the case, this might be a much more competitive fight than anyone is expecting.

Speed enabled Canelo to make it competitive last time. This time, grit will have to make it competitive. Who's willing to endure more punishment? That's who'll win the fight. That's how I see it, and I think Golovkin is more willing to go over the edge. Seeing Canelo come out again in pink pajamas didn't persuade me that he's there to win at all cost.

Canelo has been throwing with more power too though

a lot of times people looking to get a quick counter in are not putting all power into it. Canelo would throw some really brutal body shot counterss on those 168 pound guys. I think it will be fine for GGG because his reflexes are gone too.

I dont know whether canelo has lost a lot of speed or is doing it on purpose but i doubt with the extra weight he could be as fleet footed as he used to.

His new style hurt him against Bivol who is the same age with quick hands, bigger reach.

That could be true. But I imagine that Golovkin will be hitting harder than he's hit for a long time. He's not so drained anymore but not too big either. I think we'll see a better Golovkin than we saw in the Murata fight.

Canelo's fallen in love with his power. Old man kovalev, saunders off the juice, yildirim the quitter, and great value slickness plant all made him think that he had dynamite in this hands. He's been loading up,swinging for the fences, and banking on the other fighter crumbling under the pressure, and fizzling out down the stretch. He ran into a wall with bivol, and my gut tells me that he's going to run into another wall tonight.

Yeah. That's how I see it happening too. I can see him coming out strong, swinging for the fences in the first three rounds, and then when he see's he's getting return fire that's doing damage, he's going to reevaluate his approach because he'll have to if he doesn't want to lose.

End of the day, Canelo has issues with G because he has no answer for a good jab. It’s why Bivol dominated him too. His defense is made entirely for hooks.

which is lonely why Nelo has the only fanbase on earth that claim Jabs don’t count.

I noticed that too but it's because canelo has Been loading up too much on power. If he tries his one shot at a time crap tonight he's untrouble. Canelo needs to use fast counters and combos body n head.

I can see Golovkin's jab actually doing damage. Canelo's worse at defending it and G can easily punch through his high guard. Wouldn't be surprised to see Canelo cut early.
