He's still the weakest hoe in the division. Gervonta is the Champ, the man all lightweights want and mention.
Looks like even the contenders don't mention people like Ryan and Haney. Cruz beats both Haney and Ryan.

Having an opponent switched out to a fast, hard hitting southpaw last minute isn't something someone as young and inexperienced as himself is going to have a walk in the park with.
To myself, it looked like Jose got caught in the moment and as soon as he got rocked in the 1st rd ,all of his training, discipline and boxing IQ went out the window. After he got hurt its like he was like "ah fuch,I gotta answer back" and just started over committing on everything to try and get the crowds approval rather than taking his time to recover and work out a strategy for Santos aggressiveness. It happens. Happened to Victor against Maidana and Broner vs Chino. For all we know,Santos may very well do the same to Cruz,Martin or Rivera. All isn't lost after one loss.....
I don't see anyone beating Davis from 130 to 140 for at least 4 years, and if it ever happens, I wouldn't cry at all.Last edited by BoxingIsGreat; 09-05-2022, 10:04 PM.

El Rayo really got dismantled when he went in for the knockout, after dropping De Los Santos, I mean that was impressive.

It is not the problem that he lost to a very hard hitter in Santos, it is the way he lost. He refused to make adjustments like in every fight he has done so far, and his most notable deficiencies have been exploited, it is likely that any opponent at this point facing Rayo will try to pull off strategies based on this fight.
Once he noticed the difference in power and speed, he shouldn't had continued fighting at the pocket without a guard, unless he makes drastic changes, instead of handling every fighter the same method which is attacking the body to soften up his opponents and rush in when he smells blood.
David Benavidez can pull it off because fighters at 168 are nowhere near as fast and he has way more range in comparison. He doesn't have this superb defense like his fans say, where he is calculating what punches he can withstand to find an opening.
He is just difficult to land on well when he has a high guard in an upright stance.Last edited by Malvado; 09-06-2022, 07:55 AM.

Plus, Santos is quite young, you never know what he will be able to pull off in the upcoming years now that he be able to get big fights due to last night.Last edited by Malvado; 09-06-2022, 08:04 AM.
